The timespan from when WWI started till then end of WWI. Started with the assassation of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and ended with the signing of the The Treaty of Versaille. -
Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
The first attempt was when Mr. Cabrinovic threw a bomb at the royal's car which bounced off the back and exploded behind them. The couple turned into the wrong street and then Gavrilo Princip saw them and landed a fatal shot on both of the royals. -
Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia
This was the official start to WWI. Austria-Hungary declares war because the death of the royal couple. Declared war to punish Serbia. -
Battle of Marne
The first battle of WWI. It was French army and the British Expeditionary Force against Germany. The Germans succeeded in capturing a part of the industrial north east of France. -
Sinking of the Lusitania
A German submarine U-20 torpedoed and sank the Lusitania. The Lusitania was a British cruise liner traveling from New York to Liverpool, England. It was sunk because the German thought it was ammunition sent from America to England. -
Italy declares war on Austria-Hungary
Italy declares war on Austria-Hungary because the Emperors obstinacy that caused Italy to enter the war. Due to this a new theatre of war in the south. -
The battle of Verdun
Fought at the western front in France. Longest battle in the first World War. Casualties estimated to be 800,000 one of the deadliest battles in history. French came out victorious. 70 percent of casualties were caused by artillery which is why the Battle of Verdun is one of the scariest battles. -

First time tanks were used in WWI. Deadliest battle of WWI. The battle that lasted 5 months and with over a Million casualties. Fought between the British Empire and the French Third Republic against the Germany Empire. -

Germany returns back to their unrestricted submarine warfare. They broke their pledge and which later caused America to join the WWI. -
Russia Revolution
Russian Revolution caused the overthrown of the imperial government and placed Bolsheviks in power. This lead to Russia leaving WWI. -
America joins the War
America officially declares war on Germany and its allies. They declare war because of Germany's submarine attacks on their passenger and merchant ships. -
The Zimmermann Telegram
The Zimmermann Telegram was a message sent to Mexico to join Germany in an alliance against the U.S. Mexico declined and later America found out about this which pushed them to declare war on Germany. -
Battle of Hamel
It was the Australian army and US infantry against the German position. There was 1,400 German prisioners and weapons as well. Australian suffered 1,062 casualties with 800 killed. -
Battle of Saint-Mihiel
First large offensive launched by America in WWI which caught the Germans in the process of retreating which their artillery was a unorganized and this attack was a success. -
The Armistic Treaty
After 4 years of fighting and millions losing their life the Armistice was signed which stopped the fighting not the war. It was between Germany and the Allies. -
The Treaty of Versaille
When this was signed it was the official end to WWI. This made Germany pay reparations, disarm, and lose land.
