  • Deceleration of Independence

    independence was formally declared on July 2, 1776, a date that John Adams believed would be the most memorable epocha in the history of America. On July 4, 1776, Congress approved the final text of the Declaration.

  • Bill of Rights

    On September 25, 1789, Congress transmitted to the state Legislatures twelve proposed amendments to the Constitution.

  • Fith amendment

    The Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights and, among other things, protects individuals from being compelled to be witnesses against themselves in criminal cases.
