End of The French and Indian War / The Signing of The Treaty of Paris
Due to competing claims of land with the British and the French in 1754, battles broke out everywhere for who would gain supremacy over the Atlantic world. In 1763 France signed the treaty of Paris, handing French territories in North America to the British. Although this wasn't all good for the British, the war had left them in extreme debt, Which was the precursor to the road to revolution.

Sugar Act
The Sugar Act halved the duties on British molasses from 6 to 3 pence per gallon to try and reduce the smuggling of goods for trade. This act also enforced the navigation act more intensely. The act made it harder for colonists to trade with anyone but the British.

Stamp Act
A year after the Sugar Act in 1765, the Stamp Act was passed, which required you to have a revenue stamp for any printed paper as a direct tax of the colonists. The act led colonists to protest against stamp collectors and the British crown. The protests were the start of a bigger movement in America.

Townshend Act
The Townshend Act of 1767 placed duties on items like paint, tea, and many other things as the colonies did not have them and the act also gave the british more power to enforce the navigation act with search warrents.and other things. these acts continued the anger from the colonist furthering their protest.

Tea Act
After colonists boycotted British tea and goods, the British needed money, so they passed the tea act of 1773. this act allowed the British East India Company to import and export tea to the colonies without taxation, thus undercutting smuggling. The Tea Act sparked a well-known event in US history. After a shipment of tea arrived in Massachusetts, the sons of liberty snuck on and dumped tea over the board of the ship.

Coercive and Quebec Act
As a response to the destruction of the tea the british passed the coercive acts which closed the Boston port until the British East India Company was repaid. They also passed the Quebec act that widened the border of quebec and gave religious tolerance to Roman Catholics in the province. The colonist despised these acts naming them the Intolerable acts
