In the 1500's Europeans began to come to North America. Different people came for different reasons. The pilgrams came for relgious freedom. They sailed to America and landed in Plymouth Rock

In 1763 Britain defeated France. To pay of their war debt, Britain's rulers imposed taxes on the colonies. They also passed laws to control the colonies. So, in 1775 the war began and in 1776 the colonists proclamed their freedom in the Declaration of Independance

In 1776, the colonies procalmed freedom with the Declaration of Independance. It was written by Thomas Jefferson.

During the Industrial Revolution new automobiles were coming and many new things were being invented. It was a time of great change. Many factories began and the country became industrialized.

The Lousiana Purcahse doubled the size of america. Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to go and explore the new land. It was called the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

In 1860 Abraham Lincoln became president and he hated slavery. In, response, 11 southern states seceeded. In the begining the South won more battles. But the North had a larger population and supplies.

June 28, 1914 - Gavrilo Princip assassinates Franz Ferdinand. July 28, 1914 - Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia. August 2, 1914 - Ottoman Empire and Germany sign a secret treaty of alliance. August 3, 1914 - Germany declares war on France. After that it grew and grew to where many other countries came in.

In 1929, stock prices plunged, and many people lost their money. Taht began the great Depresion. Buissness faied, and millions were out of work.
