    Hijjacked U.S. airlines crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. People who hijacked theses planes were part of a terrorist group called Taliban, similar to Al-Qaeda.

    President choosen to run Afghanistan

    Choosen by U.S. forces to control Afghanistan and help control the Taliban. The president's name was Hamid Karzai.

  • Afghan troops begin to train

    They begin to train with the help and supplies of the U.S. to begin fightinh back and controling the Taliban.

  • First election in 30 years

    For the first time in 30 years, Afghanistan has their first parliamentary election.

  • NATO will give Afghanistan control of security in 2014

    Although the date is not set, they plan to give it back to the Afghan government, after U.S. and other forces withdraw from the country.
  • Osama Bin Ladin is killed

    Osama Bin Ladin is killed

    One of the main purposes for the U.S. to be involved in Afghanistan was to hunt down and kill Osama Bin Ladin.
