Civil War battle. Confederates were going to get suplies at Appomattox. Union cut them off, and surrounded them. Confederates surrendered. -

U.S trying to build itself back up after the Civil War. It was a time of many questons such as: would Confederacy be allowed back in the Union,who would establish the terms, Congress or the President, were blacks and whites equal? North and South still argued over these things. -
Imperialism
U.S economic, military, and cultural influence of the U.S on other countries. This cocept was first made known in the Amerian Mexican War led by James k. Polk. Also The U.S didnt want any other countries colonizing in Western Hemisphere. Countries tried to negotiate with Hawii but the U.S wouldnt let them. The panama canal was also made during this time period. It enabled America to expand its economic and military influence. -
World War 1
In 1914 the war started. Germany, Russia, and france were all competing for land and power. Austria and Siberia got pulled into the war because of alliances. America was remaining nuetral, until Germany sank one of their ships. In 1915 the U.S came into the war. World War 1 was basically the war to end all wars. -
Prohibition
National ban on the sale, production, and transpotation of alcohol. This movement was led by protestants. Prohibitionists presented the idea as a good thing fo rpublic morals and health. This law led to many criminal organizations such as the American Mafia. -
The Great Depression
It started after the stock prices fell in Setptember 4, 1929. There was a lot more tax, and many got fired and couldn't get a job. Farmers suffered due to drop in crop prices, so now they couldn't make enough money. -
World War 2
The war started with the German Nazi party under Hitler. It was Germany, italy and Japan (the axis powers) agianst U.S with France, Great Brittian, and the Soviet Union ( the Allies).The U.S got involved in 1941 because of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and because Germany was attacking their supply ships going to France and Great Brittian. The war ended in 1945 when the Axis powers surrendered. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor because they were hoping it would prevent U.S from interfering with the Empire of Japan.This is one reason why the U.S got involved in the war. -
The Korean War
This War was between Communist and non-communist powers in Korea. The Soviets supported the North while the U.S supported the South. The U.S didnt get involved until North Korea invaded South Korea. U.S, the world's police, invaded North Korea and defeated them. -
The cold war
The U.S and Russia competing for world power. They didnt fight openly because they were scared of eachothers powers. For example, when Russia lunched Sputnik America then launched their own space shuttle. -
Vietnam War
The U.S was trying to unify Vietnam under a very bad government. The U.S was trying to prevent the spread communism. -
The Gulf War
Iraq was going to invade their nieghbor Kuwait. The U.S and other countries got involved. After many days of constant attacking the U.S ceased fire. By then Most of The Iraq forces had surrendered. -
September 11, 2001
A Series of Terrist attacks launched by Islamic terrorists in New York. U.S planes were hijacked by Terrorists who flew them into buildings. Those buildings were the world trade center complex in New york. -
Operation Freedom
Americas response to 9/11. It was the U.S with Germany and United Kingdom on their side, against the taliban and al-Qaeda. The U.S allies weakened taliban Power adn built new military bases acrosss the country. Taliban tried to keep building their army back up, but every time the U.S stopped them. -
Invasion of Iraq
Troops from U.S, United Kingdom, and Poland invaded Iraq. This lasted for 21 days. They did this to stop Saddem Hussein's ideas about terrorism, and free the people of Iraq. They also wanted to " disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction."
