  • Olive Branch Petition

    In July 1775, the Continental Congress proposed a loyalty petition to the king to prevent hostile. In August the king turned the petition down.
  • Declaration of Independence

    After some debate, the Declaration of Independence was formally approved in July 4, 1776.
  • The Virginia and New Jersey Plan's

    The plans that were mixed and interpreted by Roger Sherman to make the Constitution of today.
  • The Articles of Confederation

    The articles were put into effect after some years of disagreements. They were ratified by all thirteen colonies in 1781.
  • Treaty of Paris

    In 1783, the British recognized the United States as independent and free.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    An uprising in western Massachusetts in 1786, by the backcountry farmers who were angered by tax enforcements and mortgage foreclosures.
