    The Freedmen's Bureau was formed to help distressed freed slaves during the Reconstruction Era, it was initiated by President Abraham Lincoln and was intended to last for a year only to help the freed men get back on their feet. They were going to teach the freed black men slaves how to read & write,
  • President Abraham Lincoln Assasinated

    President Abraham Lincoln Assasinated
    Abraham Lincoln was assasinated in Fords Theatre by John Wilkes Booth in a theater filled with 1,700 people. Booth shot Lincoln in the head with a pistol at point blank range, the President succumed to his injuries on the same day.

    The Panic of 1873 was a finacial crisis that caused a depression in the United States and Europe. This lasted for 6 years and even longer in some European countries. A chain of bank failures caused the 'great depression' through out the United States. Factories began to lay off workers and un employment was at 8.25% in 1878
  • Battle of Little Bighorn

    Battle of Little Bighorn
    The battle was between 2 indian tribes the Lakota, Cheyenne, and the Arapaho against the 7th Caverly Regiment of the United States Army. The battle ended June 26, 1876 with a victory for the indian tribes, the 7th Caverly lost 285 men and had 55 wounded. The battle occured because tensions were rising with the US and the Indians over land that the US had granted them but now wanted to take back.

    The Compromise of 1877 was a unwritten deal that settled the intensely disputed 1876 U.S. presidential election it pulled federal troops out of states in the South, and ended the Reconstruction Era. All because Democrats complained that Tilden was cheated in the Presidental election won by Rutherford B. Hayes.

    Ford Motor Company Established
    After Henry Ford sold his first motor company to cadilac . Ford started the Fort Motor Company and created a factory with 28,000 dollars from 2 investors. The factory was located on Mack Avenue in Detorit, Michigan and only produced a few cars. Now Ford Motor Company now known as 'Ford' is one of the biggest car producers in America.
  • 16th Amendment Introduced

    16th Amendment Introduced
    The 16th Amendment introduced income taxes to the US.
  • Ludlow Massacre

    Ludlow Massacre
    Ludlow Massacre was an attack by the Colorado National Gaurd and an Iron Fuel Company attacking a tent colony of 1,200 people including women and children. 2 dozen people were killed (including women and children).

    World War I was a horrific war that lasted throughout 1914-1919 that took place in Europe. It was mostly fought by soldiers in trenches. There was an estimated 10 million military deaths. Many hoped that this World War would be the 'war to end all wars'. What sparked WWI was the assasination of Austrias Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie.

WWII was the most widespread war in history, and involved more than 100 million people, from more than 30 different countries. More than 60 million people both cilvilians and military.

    The Manhattan Project was the first ever atomic bomb developing project, It cost 2 Billion dollars (26 billion in todays money). They created 2 bombs Little Boy and Fat Man both detonated in Japan.
  • Oklahoma City bombing

    The OKC Bombing was a terrorist attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The bombing killed 168 people including 19 children under the age of 6. The bomb caused $652 million dollars in damage. The attack was carried out by two men; Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh.

    The 9/11 attacks were terrorist attacks performed by Al Qaeda. The attacks killed almost 3,000 people. 2 airplanes crashed into each of the World Trade Centers by suicide bombers, each of the planes had civilians in them and the WTC came crashing down moments after. Another plane crashed into the pentagon and another hijacked plane crashed into a field in Pennslyvania after passagers on the plane tried to stop the hijackers.

Bush used the term to argue a global military, political, lawful struggle against both organizations designated as terrorist in nature and other groups accused of supporting them.

    Osama Bin Laden was the founder and leader of the terrorist group al-Qaeda. He was killed in Pakistan by U.S Navy Seals, in his compound.

    The filing of bankrupty by the Lehman Brothers is the largest in U.S Historty, holding over 600 million in asssets. It caused prices in stock markets to dip.
