    Columbus Lands in the Americas

    Columbus leaves Spain and sails west to find India and China, but he lands in the Americas. It opens up exploration and settlement in America.
  • Jamestown Founded

    Jamestown Founded

    Settlers from England travelled to the New World to form colonies and find new resources and land. The colonists settled in Jamestown to flourish in their new lives.
  • Pilgrims Land in Plymouth

    Pilgrims Land in Plymouth

    The English religious groups moved to the New World for religious freedom. The settlements created Thanksgiving ad celebrated with the Natives.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War

    The French and the Natives became allies to fight the British colonies. The French surrendered, and the British claimed more land than they expected. Since the war was costly for the British and they were in debt, the King made the colonies pay taxes.

    Franklin made the Albany Plan of Union where all the British colonists join together to win the French and Indian war. Franklin knew that if the colonists didn't all join together, they would all die. The colonists rejected the idea, though.

    When the British government was in debt from the French-Indian war, they made their colonists pay taxes for stamps. After a ton of protesting from the colonists, the government cancelled the Stamp Act.

    Because the British was in debt, they put duty on imports into the colonies. When colonists refused to buy British imports and only traded with each other, British troops arrived to Boston.

    British sentries guarding around Boston shot colonists from an outburst. Some were killed and many were injured. Colonists and British soldiers together will just cause conflict.

    The East India Company traded tea with the British. They sent tea to the New World, wanting to sell all of their tea, so they lowered their prices down so it would be lower than the tea that the colonists smuggled.

    Colonists disguised themselves as Natives and went up on the ships without any warning late at night. They crushed the crates and dumped all the tea out in the ocean. The colonists wanted to show that they should have their own voice and government before British could start taxing them.

    The British tried to steal the colonists' ammunition. They destroyed three, large cannons. The colonists fired at them to force them to go back to Concord. Both sides lost a lot of men, especially the British soldiers.

    The colonists who fought in the American Revolution came back home to see their crops destroyed and messy. The government continued to tax them and made them pay for their daily needs, even though they risked their lives for America. They were outraged that they had to do more work, so they started the violent Shay's Rebellion. They based their rebellion off of protesting from American Revolution.

    The Congress decided to make a new government, which would help their country be a better place. The Constitution is still in use for today, so it worked well for our government.

    The tax collectors created a tax on whiskey, which was too costly for the farmers and other people because they used it too much. The Whiskey Rebellion showed the people who was in charge of them, which was President Washington at the time, and it slowly decreased the amount of protesting when Washington sent an army of troops to stop the rebellion.

    Americans and French were allies but separated when the French began to have conflicts with the British since the Americans were unstable already. Americans and British are now allies, and the Americans and French are close to having a war. The Americans had different allies and multiple conflicts during the time they were trying to stabilize their country and economy.

    The War of 1812 was fought against the British and the Americans. Even though no one won the war, the Americans finally began to have respect from the other countries, and they treated America like its own, independent country.
