    American Revolution
    The American Revolution was a colonial revolt that took place between 1775 and 1783. The american patriots in the 13 colonies won independence from Great Britain, becoming the United States of America.They defeated the British in the American Rev War in alliance with France. France entered the American Revolution on the side of the colonists in 1778.
  • Adoption of the Declaration of Independence

    Adoption of the Declaration of Independence
    It set the foundation for what the country is now. The signing is what led to our independence from King George III. The signing is also what led to the American Revolution. It started the movement for independence.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    It expanded the size of the U. S. by a lot. It cost a relatively small amount of money. It allowed western farmers to store and ship their goods in New Orleans after the French had cut off their right to use the ports. Without the Louisiana Purchase the U.S. would not be the same as it is today.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark Expedition
    It was the first transcontinental expedition to the Pacific coast undertaken by the U.S. They recorded many undiscovered plants and animals. The expedition revealed what was in the land that was previously unexplored. It helped us understand better the land that we live in today.

    The Civil War was a war between the states the Confederate states and the United States. Abraham Lincoln was against the confederate states and helped the civil war. At the beginning of the civil war 22 million lived in the north and 9 million lived on the south.

    It was the first time the U.S got involved in foreign affairs. After this the U.S. was no longer an isolationist nation. The economy grew and the U.S. saw a rise in consumerism. It helped the U.S. become a world industrial leader.

    The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world, lasting from 1929 to 1939.It began after the stock market crash of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors. Unemployment rose to 25 percent and homelessness increased. Housing prices plummeted 30 percent, international trade collapsed by 60 percent, and prices fell 10 percent per year.

    The Manhattan Project
    This was a top secret operation held in Tennessee. The Manhattan Project was a research and development undertaking during World War II that produced the first nuclear weapons. There was a conspiracy that there were spies in the operation. This project changed the world forever in developing the atomic bomb. This would also led to the cold war.

    Pearl Harbor
    Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack on Hawaii committed by Japan. A total of 2403 lives were lost. This was the first major event that sparked the U.S. entering the war. Japan was the first country we declared war on after this.

    It showed just how powerful the U.S. had become. It ended the war. It led to more technological development. It changed how modern wars would be fought.

    The bombing of Nagasaki was the second time we dropped an atomic bomb on an enemy country. 75000 people were killed in the bombing. The government stated that it was necessary in order to make the Japanese back down. It worked, soon after the Japanese backed off.

    The Cold War started between The United States and The USSR. It wasn't actually a war but there was tension between both of the countries. They were in conflict to see who is the strongest and baddest in power of the world. This led to both the countries making a lot of atomic weapons and many people were getting scared that a World War III would break out.
  • Vietnam War

    The Vietnam war involved United states and the Vietcong. Many U.S soldiers were not ready for this war. The reason of this was that the Vietcong was using its advantage of using the jungle. Many Americans were wanting to get out of Vietnam because they thought it was not our business to be there. Later on President Nixon pulled American soldiers out of Vietnam and Vietnam was now a communist country.

    Montgomery Bus Boycott
    The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a civil-rights protest during which African Americans refused to ride city buses in Montgomery. The boycott took place from December 5, 1955, to December 20, 1956. Is regarded as the first large-scale U.S. demonstration against segregation. Ended with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that segregation on public buses is unconstitutional.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    This event happened during the Cold War. Many Americans were scared that the USSR pointed missiles towards the United States. The missiles were very close to the United States because the missiles were located in Cuba. The Americans were taking precautions so they did safety drills in case of an attack. This happened during President Kennedy's term.

    "I Have A Dream" Speech By: MLK Jr.
    Martin Luther King Jr. was a baptist minister and a social activist. Also became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968.One of its most powerful lines reads, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” It made Congress move faster in passing the Civil Rights Act.

    On July 20, 1969, the Apollo 11 spacecraft landed on the moon. This was the U.S.'s first moon landing. Aldrin and Armstrong were the first US men to land on the moon. This was important because they were able to collect samples of the ground.

    US withdraws from Vietnam
    When Nixon was voted in as president, he noticed that the war was not going anywhere. So instead of sending more soldiers in, he ordered a cease fire. This was important because it stopped the slaughtering of US soldiers.

    There were many attacks that happened during this day. The places that happened were in New York City, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania. Many people were injured and killed during this day and many were shocked that this happened. After this many people were on high alert of any suspicious activity.
  • US and North Korea Summit

    US and North Korea Summit
    The summit took place in Singapore Between the US and North Korea. This was very substantial because it was the first meeting in years. They talked about the demilitarization of North Korea. Meetings are still being planned.
