    The Declaration of Independence
    When armed conflicts between band of American colonists and British Soldiers began in April 1775,The Americans were fighting for their own rights. Many people wanted to declare independence from Great Britain, When Jefferson drafted the DOI he divided it into five sections, it's most famous quote was"We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal.I believe this is an important event because this document led us to gain independence from Great Britain.

    World War 1
    The main cause of WW1 was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Nationalism was also a great cause of the war. When WW1 began in 1914, Everyone were so happy to join the Army and fight for their country. By 1915 already 500,000 people were dead on both sides.
  • The Sinking Of Lusitania

    The Sinking Of Lusitania
    On May,7 of 1915, Germany attacked the Lusitania and the many passengers onboard. Within 20 minutes, the vessel sank into the Celtic Sea. Of 1,959 passengers and crew, 1,198 people were drowned, including 128 Americans. The attack aroused considerable indignation in the United States, but Germany defended the action. This event is signficant and has a negative impact because so many people died and drowned because of Gemany.

    The 1920s were an age of dramatic social and political change. For the first time, more Americans lived in cities than on farms. The nation's total wealth more than doubled between 1920 and 1929, and this economic growth swept many Americans into an affluent but unfamiliar “consumer society.” Prohibition was also involved in the 20s, which made drinking alcohol not illegal. Only transporting alcohol was illegal.

    The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world, lasting from 1929 to 1939. It began after the stock market crash of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors. Half of all banks failed. Unemployment rose to 25 percent and homelessness increased. Housing prices plummeted 30 percent, international trade collapsed by 60 percent, and prices fell 10 percent per year.

    The New Deal
    On March 4, 1933, newly elected President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his first inaugural address. U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal (1933–39) aimed to provide immediate economic relief and stabilize economy. It provided more jobs for unemployed Americans. it was a series of programs, public work projects, financial reforms, and regulations enacted by FDR.

    World War 2
    Some of the main causes of WW2 where the great depression America was facing at that time. The treaty of Versailles America gave to Germany. The Japanese expansion was another of the causes for ww2. In my opinion, this event is significant because this war changed the lives of many citizens and future generations of the era. If there were to happen any change in ww2, things would have been pretty different.

    Pearl Harbor
    Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan. It was an unexpected attack that weakened the U.S. military in Hawaii. Japan wanted to scare the U.S. out of the WWII but instead we joined to fight. There has been 2403 people dead. Japan used air force to attack.

    The U.S. was afraid of the spread of communism. There has been communist infiltrates from the U.S.S.R. People were falsely accusing others of communism. Movie stars lost jobs for being blacklisted. McCarthyism spread fear.

    Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs
    The U.S. launched two atomic bombs. They launched one in Hiroshima first. The purpose was to end the war. As a result the Japanese surrendered. But then a second bomb has been launched in Nagasaki.

    The Manhattan Project was the code name for the American led-effort to develop a functional atomic weapon during WW2. On December 28,1942 President Rooselvelt authorized the formation of the Manhattan Project. following the end of the U.S formed the Atomic Energy Commision to oversee research efforts designed to apply the technolgies developed under the Manhattan Project to other fields. This event is significant to me because we learned about it and it has a lot of meaning to me
  • The Korean War

    The Korean War started on June 25 and ended July 27,1953. It began when 75,000 soldiers from The North Korean People's army poured across the 38th parallel. This invasion was the first military cold action of the war. The Korean war was relatively short but exceptionally bloody. Nearly 5 million people died, I choose this vent because we just learned about this which makes it significant to me,

    This event is significant because this was the first war that America actually lost. Vietnam was in war with America without any logic reason. Many citizens criticizes the soldiers who gave up and flee back then. American soldiers killed innocent people from Vietnam. Today, there is still problems between Vietnam and America.
  • Rosa Parks bus movement

    Rosa Parks went on a bus in Montgomery Alabama where the norm was white people sit in the front while the African Americans sat in the back, She was fed up with this so instead of sitting in the back of the bus she decided to sit in the front of the bus which caused controversey. Her resistance led to one of the greatest movements in history, This is significant to me because ever since elementary I knew about Rosa Parks and the work she did,
  • The Cuban Missile Crisis

    The Cuban Missile Crisis
    This event took place in the Cold War. The Soviets had missiles in Cuba. The missiles were directly aiming at the U.S. It could all happen with a push of a button. It was an intense time, since it was a threat that there could be a third world war.

    The assassination of John F. Kennedy
    This event is very important into the U.S. history because it changed the lives of many American Citizens. President Kennedy was shoot while he was going to a congress meeting by an actor from the south. The purpose of this actor to do such terrible thing was because he didn't like the changes Kennedy was making up. This changed the lives of citizens because of his dead.
  • Civil Rights Movement

    Civil Rights Movement
    The civil rights movement was a struggle for African Americans to achieve civil rights equal to those of whites, such as employment, housing, education, and voting. Leader Martin Luther King Jr gave the "I Have a Dream" speech to call for civil and economic rights and to end racism in the US. Segregation was also involved during the Civil Rights Movement. A major catalyst had pushed for civil rights in December 1955, when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man.
  • The fall of Berlin Wall

    The fall of Berlin Wall
    The fall of the Berlin Wall, or more known as the Berlin war a significant event in U.S history because it demonstrated how cruel the humanity can really get. The wall separated many families and although many tried to climb it, soldiers were ordered to kill innocent people. Many citizens tried to protest days after days until the wall was finally removed. Today, pieces of the wall are still there to tourist to view.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    Terrorist group Al-Qaeda has hijacked passenger planes. There were four planes involved. Two have crashed in the Twin Towers. Another one has crashed in a field. The pentagon was also breached by another plane. 2,996 people died.
  • The Iraq / Afghanistan war

    The Iraq / Afghanistan war
    This event is very significant to the U.S history because it represented how our soldier were brave enough to face enough danger. Although there where many casualties in those wars, our soldiers were recognized as veterans of a very well-known war. Today, these veterans are know as some of the bravest soldiers.
