    Early Cold War (1945-1960)

    The Cold War started when Russia and the US started arguing over ideology and power after WWII, even though they were previously allies. The US believed in Democracy while Russia believed in Communism. In the early stages of the war American leaders responded to Soviet domination with a containment policy. They would fund and fight in countries civil wars siding with whoever believed in the same ideology as them, but the US and Russia never actually fought each other.

    After the Cold War The Berlin Wall was finally removed and most countries tried to stop communism going on it their countries so that's when the US president Harry Truman wrote the Truman Doctrine. After we also reached great-power status along with the Soviet Union once we started creating nuclear weapons and starting space exploration.
