    The reformation of the Union after the Civil War. There was much resentment towards African Americans. Their rights were established. It ended with th Compromise of 1877.

    The residents of Hawaii tried to overthrow the queen in 1893. America ammediately sent troops without presidential approval, and Hawaii became a territory after that until 1959. Hawaii played an important role in the Spanish-American war.

    A canal originally tried to be built be the French, but the U.S. finished it in 1914. It allowed the U.S. to obtain land 50 miles along the isthmus of Panama.

    War throughout Europe that started with the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Many new weopons were made in this war, and the U.S. was forced to become a part of it because of Americans' hatred towards "the Huns." It ended in 1919 with the treaty of Versailles, and the league of nations was also established.

    The beginning of the prohibition created more gang activity than ever. People created "Speakeasies" as a result, which were places where people sold alcoholic drinks illegally. Gangs and eventually the mafia were caused by this selling of goods illegally.

    This era of economic failure brought great poverty to America and left many people out of work. It lasted for almost a decade but was saved by World War II, which created a boom in manufacturing.

    It began in 1939 with the invasion of Poland by the Nazis. America became involved in 1941 after Pearl Harbor was bombed. The U.S. began manufacturing in thousands of factories across the country, which gave thoudands of people jobs. The war ended with the surrender of Germany in 1945.

    Pearl Harbor was a Japanese bombing on the harbor in Hawaii in 1941. It triggered American involvement in World War II. Japan did this because they thought that they could controll the entire Pacific, and Hawaii was the main thing standing in their way.

    The conflict between soviet Russia and the U.S.. It was called the cold war because both of the countries were afraid of eachother's power, and they didn't want to openly start a war. It not oficially started soon after World War II. Both countries also had nuclar weapons, and they didn't want to devastate the entire wordl by starting nuclear warfare.

    War broke out when the Americans supported the South, but the Soveits supported northern Korea, this also arose cold war conflicts. The United Nations met to resolve what to do about this, and they resolved to support the U.S..

    Vietnam became separated into North and South Vietnam because of their different democratic and communist values. America sided with the South, Russia sided with the north.the war lasted 16 years and ended with the death of Diem, the emperor of the South.

    The Gulf War
    Triggered by Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990. They claimed it was still their territory, but the UN sent in troops for security and requested that Iraq withdrawal from the territory, but they didn't so the war ensued.

    Also known as 9/11, it was the suicide bombing of the world trade centers in New York City. Al-Qaeda was the terrorist group behind it. They hijacked civilian planes and also tried to crash a plane into the white house.

    The operation when America invaded Afghanistan in order to stop Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization responsible for 9/11. George W. Bush deployed the troops into Afghanistan October 7th, 2001.

    The operation America launched that tried to stop Saddam, one of the terrorist leaders in Iraq. The U.S. was trying to free all of the innocent Iraq people from him.

    The deployment of American troops by Geaorge W. Bush. A lot of people do not beleive there was a cause, but some would argue that it was in order to free thr Iraqi people from terrorists.
