    Construction of the canal began on January 1, 1881, though digging at Culebra did not begin until January 22, 1881. It was created to make the journey shorter from the U.S. to Asia.

    This war was a conflict between Spain and the United States. It was the result of American intervention in the Cuban War of Independence. Also, one of the causes of this war the Maine explosion. This American victory led to the Collapse of the Spanish Empire.

The war drew in all the world's economic great powers, which were assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies (based on the Triple Entente of the United Kingdom, France and the Russian Empire) and the Central Powers of Germany and Austria-Hungary. The Ottoman Empire joined the Central Powers.

    The Great Depression, an immense tragedy that placed millions of Americans out of work, it was the beginning of government involvement in the economy and in society as a whole.

    New Deal

    The New Deal was a series of domestic economic programs in the United States. They involved presidential executive orders or laws passed by Congress during the first term of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The programs were in response to the Great Depression, and focused on what historians call the "3 Rs": Relief, Recovery, and Reform. That is Relief for the unemployed and poor; Recovery of the economy to normal levels; and Reform of the financial system to prevent a repeat depression.

    A war between the Axis (Germany, Japan, Italy) and the Allies (Great Britain, France, Soviet Union). France surrendered on June 22, 1940. German appeasement to bltitzkrieg on Poland. This war had the result of the fall of the Japanese and Italian Empires and creation of the United Nations.

    America joins WW 2

    America also ended the war with the Atomic Bomb being dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Then, Japan surrendered two days later with the exception of their king retaining his throne.

    The military attck on Pearl Harbor was a suprise. The attack was conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The result of this attck was a Japanese victory, but it also led to the United States joining World War ll. Also, another result of this attack was Germany and Italy declaring war on the United States.

    This "war" was a sustained political and military tension between powers in the Western Bloc, dominated by the United States with NATO among its allies, and powers in the Eastern Bloc, dominated by the Soviet Union along with the Warsaw Pact. They could not agree on how to rebuild Germany after World War ll. It got its name because there was never any "heat" from a gunshot during the "war".

    North Korea established a communist government, while South Korea established a right-wing government. The altercation became increasingly worse when North Korea invaded South Korea on June 25, 1950. A territorial change was the Korean Demilitarized Zone. This occured during the Cold War.

    (OEF) with its name given by the U.S., it was used for the War in Afghanistan. It also included the destruction of terrorist training camps and infrastructure within Afghanistan, the capture of al-Qaeda leaders, and the cessation of terrorist activities in Afghanistan. (GWOT)

    Bush authorized the mission to rid Iraq of tyrannical dictator Saddam Hussein and eliminate Hussein's ability to develop weapons of mass destruction.     The Invasion of Iraq was cuased by 9/11 and the Gulf War. It included 21 days full of major combat wich combined armies from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Poland. The U.S invaded Iraq because it was big and we thought that it would be an easy military and political victroy.
