Reconstruction
The Reconstruction was the time period after the civil war when the slaves where freed. When the slaves where freed, they took white men's jobs. The government had to create laws to solve conflict. these laws led to the later development of KKK and White League. -
Industrial Revolutiom
The Industrial Revolution was a time period of inventions and economic success in America. Factories where built with machinery that could mass produce a product like iron and textiles. The steam engine was one of the biggest inventions because it increased communication and transportation. -
The Spanish American War
America went to war with the Spanish by mistake. There was a patrol boat off the shores of Cuba and it mysteriously blew up. America thought it was the Spanish so they went to war with them. -
Acquisition of Hawaii
The U.S wanted hawaii so they tried to buy it from the queen. She said no so they overthrough her and claimed hawaii as U.S. territory. Later, hawaii became the 50th state. -
Creation of the Panama Canal
President Theodore Roosevelt wanted an easier and faster way to ship goods between Atlantic and Pacific shores. He came up with the Panama Canal and had it built in 11 years. -
World War I
World War I started when britian joined forces with other european countried and went to war. America got involved later to help by sending troops over seas. The war went from 1914-1919. -
Prohibition/Roaring 20's
This era was after the industial revolution so people were drinking too much. This led to the prohibition act. It was later outlawed and repealed. -
The Great Depression and The New Deal
Right before the Great Depression, people put a ton of money into the stock market. The market was good so people pulled their share out quickly after they bought it. The stock market lost too much money and crashed, leading to the Great depression. The New Deal was the government making jobs for the unemployed homeless people that where effected by the collapse. -
World War II
Hitler invaded poland in 1937 and drove Great Britain to go to war with Germany. World War II had begun. The fighting lasted for 6 long years. The war killed more people than the previous. -
The Cold War
During world war II, the U.S. teamed up with the Soviet Union until ties got loose. The U.S. ended up nuking the Soviet Union twice when they refused to surrender. -
attack on pearl harbor
This was a suprise attack on the Americans in Hawaii by the Japonese. they bombed the naval ships and the base of pearl harbor. The attack led to the entry of the U.S. into world war II. -
The Korean War
In the first part of the cold war, the Koreans marched across the 38th parallel and invaded the Soviets. The Americans jumped in and took down everyone. -
The Vietnam War
This war was a long and costly was against communists in the east. The U.S came in and took control of the situation. -
The Gulf War
Iraq tried to invade Kuait, but Kuait is allied to the U.S.. The U.S. came and fought off Iraq. -
9/11
Osama Binladen and his group of terrorists crashed planes into the world trade center. They als crashed a plane in the pentagon. his team tried to hit the capitol but the crew onboard overtook the plane and crashed into a feild in pennsilvainia. -
Operation Iraqi Freedom
This was the war between Iraq and America. This was another costly communist war. -
Opperation Enduring Freedom
This is the war in Afghanastan that the American's started because of 9/11. It turned into a full war.
