    Odysseus and his men are in Danger
    The Cyclops asked them questions such as who they are and where they're from. Odysseus brought up his Greek customs, the Cyclops didn't think much of it and his gods. He said he wasn't going to let them go and that he knew where their ship was. Odysseus lies to him and tells him that Poseidon made the earth shake and cause his ship to break on the some rocks. The Cyclops did not reply nor showed pity, he took two men and bashed their brains out, dismembered them and made his meal.

    Opening of the Odeyssey
    Odysseus was detained by the goddess Calypso, with the help of Athena. Calypso wanted to make him her husband. Odysseus was able to convince Calypso to let him go. Odysseus build a raft which was destroyed by a storm, he washed up in and island named Phaeacians. Where the king Alcinous gave him a banquet to honor him. Alcinous asked Odysseus to tell who he was and where he's from. Odysseus could relate to the adventures of the king upon that time.

    Coastline of the Lotus Eaters
    Odysseus and his crew, had landed take water. He sent out three of his men to learn what race of men that lived there. The men met with a Lotus Eater, it showed no threat. The Lotus offered them a sweet, but never told them that those who ate the honeyed plant longed to stay forever and forget their homeland. When Odysseus knew about this he dragged the three crying men back to the ship and tied them down.

    The Island of the Cyclops

    The Island of the Cyclops
    Odysseus and his men land on another island, where Cyclops live. They spend several days feasting on wine and goats, observing the island. On the third day he and a few his men set out to learn if the Cyclopes are friends or foes, with him he took sweet liquor and food. They found a cavern hidden partially behind trees, there was sheepfolds with many rams and goats. Odysseus had sensed something bad would happen.

    Cyclops, Polyphemus
    When they enter the cave they found racks sagged with cheeses. One of Odysseus men asked why didn't they just take the cheeses and let the goats free and also take them to the ship. Odysseus refuses because he wants to see what the Cyclops had to offer so they made a fire, burnt an offering, took some cheese and sat in silence waiting. The Cyclops put out the fire and scared Odysseus and his men. The Cyclops then took a rock and closes the cave so no one would out.

    Nohbdy
    Odysseus had told the Cyclops his name was Nohbdy and reminded the Cyclopes of the gift he promised. In response the Cyclops told him his gift was the honor in eating his last. The Cyclops was drunk by this point and soon passed out. Odysseus then tells the people he picked to keep their courage up. With the help of four others Odysseus rammed the spike into the Cyclops' single eye and twist it. The Cyclops roared and tugged the bloody spiked out. He then went out to howl at the others Cyclopes.

    Name Deceiving

    The other Cyclops come out of their homes asking Polyphemus why he was crying so late at night, his cries wouldn't let them sleep. Polyphemus then told them that Nohbdy had tricked him and ruined him. The name deceived them, making them believe that he harmed himself since he had no family and lived alone. The other Cyclops told him to pray for his father Poseidon and let Polyphemus be. Meanwhile Odysseus had to think of another plan and that was how to get out without being seen.

    Back to Shore
    They led the sheep to their ship. When they arrive to Odysseus orders the others to load the herd, move fast and get the ship ready to leave. He sent a few men back to bother the Cyclops, the Cyclops went after them. He broke the hilltop and threw it at them, but instead caused a wave, sending their ship was back to shore. His crew tell him to leave the Cyclops alone and if he provoked him he would throw them a boulder.

    Odysseus couldn't stand having the Cyclops think that Nohbdy ruined him so he reveals his real name. The Cyclops called down curses upon him, he begged his lord to grant his wish of Odysseus never seeing his home and to lose all his companions. Odysseus saw the squadron waiting, all his troubled friends who had waited for him. His men unload the Cyclops flocks to share. He kept the ram to himself and with that they moved on with their lives but not with those who died.

    Odysseus' plan

    Odysseus planned to kill the Cyclops, but he then realized that if he did he and his men wouldn't be able to get out. The next day the Cyclops eat two more of his men leaving nine men left. Odysseus thought of ways to hurt him worst. When the Cyclops left Odysseus cut out a section of a pole and had his men smooth it while he made one side pointy. They hold the pole over the fire, toughening it. They hid the pole and waited for the Cyclops to fall asleep.

    Tricking the Cyclops
    When the Cyclops repeated his evening chores and eat another two men, now eight standing. Odysseus walked up to him and offer the Cyclops to try some of his wine to wash down the taste of men. The wine was meant to be an offering. The Cyclops then asked for more . He then asked for Odysseus for his name and that he would give him a gift in return. Odysseus had given him three more of wine before he gave the cyclops an answer. In response Odysseus told another lie

    Odysseus and his men get away Unseen
    Odysseus tied his men with three sheep together. While he took the ram for himself and hung under it belly. Polyphemus then returned to his cave, he patted one of his sheep, telling them he wouldn't let Nohbdy get out alive for what he had done. He then sent his sheep out into the open not realizing that the men where hiding. When Odysseus had gotten to a safe distance form the Cyclops he dropped and roll from the ram to untie his men.
