    Finding Florida

    Florida was the first part of the continental United States to be visited and settled by Europeans. The earliest known European explorers came with the Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de León. Ponce de León spotted and landed on the peninsula on April 2, 1513. Florida is very important to me because I have lived her all my life and I love living here. This is one of the biggest states in the USA
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The signing of the United States Declaration of Independence occurred on August 2, 1776, at the Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when 56 delegates to the Second Continental Congress, representing the thirteen self-declared "United States of America," endorsed the Declaration of Independence that the Congress had approved on July 4, 1776. This gave us our freedom as a country and if this wasn't signed we would still be apart of Great Britain.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    I think this battle is important because this was the turning point in the revolutionary war. This was the start of when the patriots got the upper hand in the war. This one of of the main events which change the outcome of the revolution. If we had lost the battle of saratoga then we would not be a separate country. This battle was the start of the United States in my eyes
  • Creation of the electric battery

    The battery was created on March 20, 1800 When a wire was connected to both ends of the pile, a steady current flowed. Alessandro Volta found that different types of metal could change the amount of current produced, and that he could increase the current by adding disks to the stack. We use electricity for 90% of the things we have today. We use electricity for so many thing in the USA and it runs most of our jobs and lives. If we didn't have it our country would not function.

    The Industrial Revolution, which took place from the 18th to 19th centuries, was a period during which predominantly agrarian, rural societies in Europe and America became industrial and urban. This brought lots of technology to the United States like cars and mass production machines.

    The civil war was a war between the north and south. The norths economy was well established in manufacturing and industry.The South’s economy was based on a system of large-scale farming that depended on the labor of black slaves to grow certain crops, especially cotton and tobacco. The caused the civil war to happen. This country abolished slavery because of the civil war. It is because all those men fought and lost there lives that everyone has equal rights.

    The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression that took place during the 1930s. The timing of the Great Depression varied across nations; in most countries it started in 1929 and lasted until the late 1930s. It was the longest, deepest, and most widespread depression of the 20th century. This showed our country which laws we needed to create. This also showed us that we can't invest too much in the stock market at once.
  • World War II

    World war 2's primary combatants were the Axis nations and the Allied nations, led by Britain the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America. The Allies were the victors. Two superpowers, the USA and USSR, emerged from World War II to begin a Cold War with each other that would define much of the rest of the century. This used brought lots of advances in the United States like the women's rights movement.
  • Apollo 11

    Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first two humans on the Moon. Mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin, both American, landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC. Armstrong became the first to step onto the lunar surface six hours later on July 21 at 02:56:15 UTC; Aldrin joined him about 20 minutes later. This was the start of our country becoming one of the best scientific countries in the world.
