  • Trail of Tears

    The Trail of Tears was when American soldiers relocated the Cherokee Indians to "Indian Territory." These Indians traveled by foot, wagon, or horses. Many Indians had died from diseases, food shortages, and even the weather conditions.
  • Civil War

    After President Lincoln was elected, many southern states seceded from the Union because he was anti-slavery.This created tension between the North and South and soon enough, a battle between the states. After four years, around 620,000 soldiers died in battle and much of the south was destroyed.
  • Transcontinental Railroad

    The Transcontinental Railroad spanned from the East to the West. It was very expensive to build, it was very popular because it was an easier and faster way to travel. Industry went up majorly because they could get products place to place faster.
  • Two Brothers Take Flight

    The two brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright were from Dayton, Oho. On December 14, 1903 Wilbur had flown a little over 100 feet in 3 and 1/2 seconds, he didnt consider it an actual flight. Three days later, Wilbur Wright had flown 852 feet in 59 seconds, that was a very successful flight, and the first, heavier-than-air, plane.
  • World War 1

    World War 1 had started when Austria's Archduke, Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. Germany had sunk a British submarine which carried 159 American passengers and Germany had told Mexico that if they helped them in the war, they promised them some US land. Britain had intercepted that message, and then translated it and told the US, and those are the reasons that the US declared war on Germany. After the end of the war, an estimated 10 million soldiers had lost their lives.
  • US Drops Atomic Bomb on Japan ; World War ll Ends Eight Days Later

    The atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, instantly killed 80,000 people. The US then dropped another bomb on the city of Nagasaki, killing about 40,000 more people. With the conclusion of all these deaths, Japan surrendered.
  • Assasination of Martin Luther King, Jr.

    Martin Luther King, Jr. was very important to the African American citizens. He was very involved in the civil rights movements, and he also never used violence. He strived for African Americans to get more rights like the right to vote. He was assassinated while leading a protest in Memphis, Tenessee.
  • Columbine School Massacre

    The devestating shooting of 18 innocent students is still remembered as the worst school shooting ever. In Littleton, Colorado, two male students violently killed some of their classmates, and then they took their own lives. Rachel Scott, one of the victims, had drawn a rose a few hours before being shot, this rose had 13 tears, there were 13 students that had lost their lives later that day.
  • 9-11 Terrorist Attack on the Twin Towers

    On September 11th, 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four airplanes. Two of them crashed into the Twin Towers, one of them crashed into the Pentagon, and the last one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people had died from the crashings of the Twin Towers and the Pentagon.
  • Huricane Katrina

    Hurricane Katrina was a very strong and deadly storm. It was a level 5 hurricane and had high winds of 174 miles per hour, it's also known as one of the most expensive natural disasters. This hurricane had killed 1,833 people.
