    Notices actiona of other children and other adults. Explores different features of objects as if studying them. Discovers abilities to make things happen on their own. Slowly increases vocablulary from four to six words. May attempt to imitate words that others say.
  • 16-18 Months Physical

    May be able to walk sideways. Walks fast and runs stiffly. Jumps with both feet, improves throwing motion. Likes to grab anything and everything. May show hand preferance in all activites.
  • 16-18 Months Cognitive

    Gradually refines concepts. Remembers where objects belong. Has short attention span, tries to imitate the way parents use objects. Imitates simple sounds on request. Indentifies objects by pointing when requested.
  • 19-21 Months Physical

    19-21 Months Physical
    Walks sideways and backwards, runs without falling often. Loves to run, jump, and climb. Can kick large ball without stepping on it. Holds two objects in hand easily. Can fold piece of paper once imitating demonstration.
  • 19-21 Months Cognitive

    Progresses from simple imitation to imaginative play. Can't remember familiar objects without seeing them. Is interesting in tiny things such as bugs. Has vocabulary of about 20 words. Uses speech to get desired results.
  • 22-24 Months Physical

    Walks with more coordinations and assurance. Bounces and sways in simple dancing. Alternates between standing and sitting easily. Shows increased coordination and smoother hand and finger movements. Likes to play with modeling clay.
  • 22-24 Months Cognitive

    Has vocabulary of 50 or more words. Follows simple direcctions. Recognizes when a picture is upside downs. May distinguish one between many. Identifies familiar objects on TV screen.
  • 24-30 months Physical

    24-30 months Physical
    Enjoys running but is unable to measure sudden stops. Climbs everywhere even in forbidden places. Plays on swings, ladders, and other playground equipment. Opens door knobs. Can remove wrapping from candy. Can soap hands and arms easily.
  • 24-30 Months Cognitive

    Becomes increasingly interested in childrens T.V shows. Understands cause and effects in behavior.Likes to imitate drawings of older children. Recognizes familiar signs in the enviorment. Vocabulary starts at 200 words and increases to 500 or more.
  • 30-36 Months Physical

    30-36 Months Physical
    Likes to be in constant motion, running or walking sideways. Enjoys games involving running. Goes up stairs by alternating feet. Turns doorknobs with greater strength. Scribbles and draws circles and verticle lines. Takes objects apart and puts them back together.
  • 30-36 Months Cognitive

    Begins to classify objects into general catergories. Tries out various roles in imaginative play. Reveals intellectual curiosity in reading books and watching TV. Can remember and follow 3-step commands. Vocabulary starts at 500 words and continues to over 1000 words. Ask names of objects and repeats them.
