Passengers arrive in Southampton, England. The Titanic set sail and rode anchor in Cherbourg, France. It then departed for Queenstown, Ireland before finally setting sail enroute to New York.

On both the 12th and the 13th of April, the Titanic sailed through clear, calm waters.

7 ice warnings were received. At 11:40 PM lookouts aboard the Titanic see an iceberg dead ahead; the iceberg struck the starboard bow. At 11:50 PM water begins to pour into the ship.

12:00 AM: The captain was told that the ship could only stay afloat for a few more hours.
12:05 AM: Orders are given to uncover the lifeboats and to ready the crew and passengers on deck.
12:25 AM: The order is given to start loading lifeboats with women and children. The Carpathia, 58 miles away, picks up the distress signal.
12:45 AM: The first of the lifeboats is lowered; it only has 12 aboard despite a capacity of 65. The first distress rocket is flared.
1:15 AM: The deck starts to tilt. -
1:40 AM: Most of the lifeboats are ordered; passengers move towards ship's stern.
2:05 AM: Last lifeboat leaves - still over 1500 people on board.
2:17 AM: Last radiocall for help sent out; Captain tells his crew "Everyman for himself"; the bow plunges under the water.
2:18 AM: Ships lights go out.
3:30 AM: Carpathia's rockets are sighted.
4:10 AM: First lifeboat rescued.
8:10 AM: Last lifeboat rescued. -
