Tebow was awarded the Heisman Trophy, finishing ahead of Arkansas's Darren McFadden, Hawaii's Colt Brennan, and Missouri's Chase Daniel. Tim was the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy. He got 462 first place votes and 1957 points.

The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the collegiate American football player adjudged by the Davey O'Brien Foundation to be the best of all National Collegiate Athletic Association quarterbacks. the award was established as the Davey O'Brien Memorial Trophy, It is given to the most outstanding player in the Southwest Conference.
