New Orleans Drug bust shooting
Wendell Allen a 20 year old, high school basketball star, was wearing only pajama shorts when police stormed into his house and shot him to death on March 7th 2012. They were doing a drug investigation and Allen did have a previous marijuana related conviction. The police entered and upon encountering Allen coming down the stairs immediately shot and killed the 20 year old without making an attempt to subdue him previously. -
Ferguson Shooting
An unarmed African-American teenager was gunned down by a police officer. Is was ruled in favor of officer Wilson, and charges were dropped in the shooting of 18 year old, Michael Brown. This set off a large scale riot, which violently tore through the town. -
Man shot close rang by police in Baton Rouge
Alton sterling was gunned down by police on July 5th. An anonymous caller told police a man with a gun was threatening them. "The police were not called to the scene for Sterling", said the store clerk. But police began questioning him then attempted to arrest him. Upon taking him to the ground a black, semi-auto handgun fell from his waistband. At one point an officer yelled "he's going for his gun" upon which another officer fired three shots into Sterling from 3 feet away. He died later on. -
Man shot in Minnesota traffic stop
Philando Castile was in the car with his girlfriend and their child when they were stopped by an officer for a broken tail light. Castile alerted the officer that he had a license to carry and was currently. The officer then asked Castile to retrieve his license and registration. Upon reaching for them the officer shot him four times. Castile's girlfriend then took a live video which was streaming on Facebook of the incident. Philando Castile later died from his injuries. -
Dallas man opens fire on police at rally
Micah Johnson was 25 years old, and had served in the military. Everyone who knew him said he was a well-mannered man who was a regular at church. In his attack he killed five officers, wounded seven others, and wounded two civilians. The police used a robot-delivered explosive to kill Johnson before he could hurt anyone else. -
Man ambushes police in Baton Rouge
Gavin Long, who was discharged from the military in 2010 at the rank of sergeant, went on a rampage on his 29th birthday. On July 17th Long ambushed officers and killed two officers, as well as, a sheriff's deputy. He would post videos about "fighting back against police." -
Shooting in Tacoma, Washington
Officer Reginald "Jake" Gutierrez was shot and killed after responding to a domestic violence call on November 30th. The unnamed suspect was held up in a building. A woman eventually escaped the building as well as a 6 year old boy and 8 year old girl who were used by the suspect as a human shield earlier that day. The unnamed man was eventually shot and killed.
