    The Stamp Act was put into action in 1765 by the British onto the colonies to get more tax money to lift them out of debt from the Seven Year's War. It was a tax on all paper projects sold in the colonies. In asymmetrical retaliation, many colonists boycotted taxed products.

    The Boston Massacre took place on March 5, 1770. It was a street fight in Boston between the colonists and the British, if you count some rebels throwing rocks and the British shooting them in return, which is asymmetrical fighting, a fight. It started as an agitated mob and ended as a tragedy.

    The Boston Tea Party happened on the 12th of December, 1773 in Boston Harbor in asymmetrical response to the Tea Act. The Sons of Liberty, a political group, led a protest against taxation without representation while dressed up as Mohawk Indians and threw tea into the harbor.

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord took place in Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775 between the colonists and the British. They were the first two military conflicts of the Revolutionary War. Helped by the element of surprise, the colonists beat the British at both battles, fighting asymmetrically.

    Thomas Paine's pamphlet Common Sense was published on January 10, 1776 in the American colonies, an asymmetrical action. It became enormously popular after its publication and it showed to the American colonists that having freedom was, well, common sense.

    The Declaration of Independence was written mainly by Thomas Jefferson. It was officially adopted by Congress on July 4, 1776 - a date remembered by all Americans even today. It was asymmetrical. This was the official document severing the American colonies into a new, separate country.
  • Battle at Trenton/Princeton

    The Battles of Trenton and Princeton were fought between the colonists and the British (the British being assisted by the Hessians) after General Washington crossed the Delaware River on December 25, 1776. The Battle of Trenton was on December 26, where the colonists took down a large force of Hessian mercenaries. The Battle of Princeton was on January 3, 1777 when the colonists destroyed a bridge and disappeared. Both were asymmetrical.

    The Battle of Saratoga took place between September 19, 1777 and October 9, 1777. It was technically two battles that took place in Saratoga between the English and the British. The British won the first battle with ease but were defeated in the second. The Battle of Saratoga was asymmetrical - the colonists beat the British unexpectedly.

    Continental Army Occupation of Valley Forge
    The colonist's occupation of Valley Forge took place from December 19, 1777 to June 19, 1778. During that time, many died from disease, cold, and starvation. However, the soldiers remaining after the winter had become a more formidable force. The British lazed in Philadelphia while the colonists trained in Valley Forge, so it was asymmetrical.
  • War in the South/Charleston

    War in the South/Charleston
    The War in the South and Charleston were separate events. The Battle of Charleston was a siege from March 29, 1980 to May 12, 1980 between the British and the colonists - the British won, capturing the city. The War in the South consisted of the American soldiers running from the British to wear out the British and their supplies, forcing them to steal from the colonists and make the colonists hate them. These were asymmetrical.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown
    The Battle of Yorktown took place from September 28, 1781 to October 19, 1781 in Yorktown, Virginia between the British and the colonists. The colonists were led by General George Washington and had the help of the French, mainly Marquis de Lafayette. The British were led by General Charles Cornwallis. Cornwallis surrendered on October 19, putting an end to the 8 years of fighting in the Revolutionary War. The Battle of Yorktown was asymmetrical.
