  • 1944 Education Act

    1944 Education Act
    The Education Act was steered through parliament by R.A Butler (Education Minister) The school leaving age rose from 14 to 15. Children went to schools that match their ability, all education was free.
  • The Tripartite System

    The Tripartite System
    Three different schools were formed due to the 1944 Education Act : Grammer, Secondary Technical School and Secondary Modern School. Tests were taken at 11 to determine what school you went to - form of IQ tests.
  • General Certificate of Education was Introduced

    General Certificate of Education was Introduced
    The General Certificate of Education was introduced replacing the School certificate and the Higher School Certificate. O - Levels and A- Levels were introduced. This was mainly grammer school exams but some education ministers established their own exams for children not taking the GCEs.
  • Harold Wilson - Comprehensive Schools

    Harold Wilson - Comprehensive Schools
    Newly - elected Labour Government Harold Wilson promised to set up comprehensive schools combining all ability levels in one school. The tripartite System was ended.
  • Certificate of Secondary Education

    Certificate of Secondary Education
    The Certificate of Secondary Education was introduced to cater for the students that did not sitting O - Levels.

    The school leaving age was raised from 15 to 16. In the last year of compulsary schooling work experience was provided.
  • GCSEs Introduced

    GCSEs Introduced
    The General Certificate of Secondary Education replaces O- levels. The National Curriculum, stipulating subjects to be studied until the age of 16, was also introduced.
  • Education Reform Act

    Education Reform Act
    The Education Reform Act was introduced by the Thatcher govenment. It was also to make all education the same for state-funded Schools. During this act the national curriculum was implemented. A selection of subjects were made compulsary including Maths, English and Science. Pupils were also divided into key stages.
  • Ofsted

    Ofsted
    Ofsted was first established in 1992. They inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, aand those providing education skills for learners of all ages.
  • Youth Sports Trust

    Youth Sports Trust was first established in 1994, it is an independant charity that wants to build a brighter future for young people through PE and Sport. Their aim is to improve both the quantity and the quality of PE in schools and to inspire and engage all young people in sporting activity. In 2008 I got the chance to take part in a range of activites to inspire children by coaching and volenteering in a range of primary schools.
  • St Chads Primary Catholic School

    St Chads Primary Catholic School
    Started St Chads Primary School. A very small school in Sedgley. Catholic school so had to attend church every Thurdsday as a school.
  • Sport: Raising the game

    Sport: Raising the game
    This was one of the most important set of proposals ever published for the encouragement and promotion of sport. Raising the game concentrated on sport in schools and continuing after school. This had a huge affect on me as starting primar school this year sport was one of the main subjects on the curriculum. Having more PE lessons on the timetable.
  • BTEC

    BTEC
    BTECs were established in 1996 and edexcel was formed. BTECs engaged aa range of students in practical, interpersonal and thinking skills.
    It helped students get a qualification in a vocational course
  • School Sport Partnership

    School Sport Partnership
    Schools Sports Partnership was established in 2000. this was to enable all schools in England to share facilities, goo practice and increase the amount of time young people are involved in school sport and PE.
    During my time in school I got to take aprt in certain sports such as, tag rugby and athletics as my school didnt have the facilities for students to take part in all sports.
    Also during sixth form I got to be a volenteer for the Schools Sport Partnership.
  • Bishop Milner Catholic School

    Bishop Milner Catholic School
    Started Bishop Milner in 2001. At the time Bishop Milner was the top performing school in Dudley.
  • Sandwell Academy

    Sandwell Academy
    Sandwell Academy was a brand new state of the art Academy. I joined due to my secondary school not offering sport as an A- level. Here i studeied BTEC sport with amazing teachers and excellent facilities.
  • University of Worcester

    University of Worcester
    In 2009 I started Worcester Unniversity where I stuided Physical Education and Sport Studeies.
    here I was given the chance to take part in a number of placements and be part of the cheerleading squad.
  • Calition government 2010

    Calition government 2010
    In 2010 Sport england had their funding scrapped by 33%. School sports partnership had their funding completly scrapped by the Department Of Education.
  • New NCPE

    New NCPE
    In 2014 the new National Curriculum came into place.
    This year i will be doing my teacher training in phyical. The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:
    • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
    • are physically active for sustained periods of time
    • engage in competitive sports and activities
    • lead healthy, active lives.
