    G. I. Bill
    The G.I. Bill was a bill signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt, it was the first law that benefited the return of the World War 2 veterans. This was a a huge help because it established hospitals and granted opportunities for the veterans to get back into a normal life. This law was passed on June 22, 1944, and was still used during the 50's.

    Describes closure to western ideas and it creates physical barriers across Eastern Europe. Barricades of concrete and barbed wire to seal off East from the West.

    TB shows started to accumulate when the TV started to increase in selling.Shows were well known in the 1950's because they were around for a very long time. There wasn't many channels but families got entertained very well, it created a mass media all over and their was no stopping. Many shows became famous, just like I love Lucy or Father Knows best that were around for 6-7 years, and then we have a show like Gunsmoke that was around for 20 years.

    This era where one of the craziest ever. Rock 'n' Roll was shown in the late 40's and early 50's , this was one of the most moving times in the 50's. Many big artist were actually developed during this time, like Elvis P. Many teenagers were were moving to the beat you saw the generation moving along. During this era movies included Rock 'n' Roll and the images of young adults moving along. Also many parents didn't approve of kids listening to Rock because they thought it was the devil's music.

    Television started booming during the 1950's everybody spend their time sitting on the relaxing couch and watching their favorite movie. Television was a great way of entertainment everybody had one because everybody used it. Families started to gather up more in late afternoons, also shows started to expand, more and more shows would get hundreds of views because that is what families would only do. It was very significant for television to start being noticed because now we good channels.

This could be said to be a good thing and a bad thing because it helped catch many communist but then again many citizens lost their jobs because they were falsely accused.     Ike Turner was a African American Rock 'n' Roll musician in the 1950's, his dedication was extraordinary, started playing the piano when he was at a young age. His first song "Rocket 88" sparked a new tone and the rhythm of blues that nobody expected.

    The development of Rock 'n' Roll were exploding with millions of fans screaming for the artist that created the most fascinated songs ever. Little Richard was an African American icon during the 1950's creating his first break on the radio in 1951. His song Tutti-Frutti was one of the first to to instantly put in the Billboard hits.

    The Hydrogen was a turn over tested during the Cold War era. This was developed and later President Harry S. Truman decided to continue the development of the bomb. The first launch of the bomb was a test and was focused to beat the Russians in the creation of the bomb.
    The first bomb was tested on the Enewetak and was predicted land in the atoll/island in the Pacific Ocean. (Nov 1st was the first bomb launched)

    Term used by the 34th President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The domino theory is exactly as it sounds, if one falls down they all fall down as well with them. This was under the communist era where if one country performed or where for communist they will all fall under communist even if they weren't. This was used in the Southeast Part of Asia.

    This case was an important one during the civil rights movement. This case decided that public schools were now open to whites and blacks (equal). Public schools were segregated back then this case helped dissolved that issue. Education was important to many but why wasn't it allowed for many? This case opened many peoples eyes.

    Doctor Jonas Edward Salk creator of the Polio vaccine, was a medical researcher and worked with medicine. This vaccine was to protect citizens, it was a disease that caused problem in the throat. This disease got attached to children the most and around 3,200 people died and many other were left with disabilities.

    Emmett Till was beaten and killed after being falsely accused of "coming after a white women" at age 14. Emmett was kid that was thrown in a lake for flirting with a women, is that so bad? This sparked the civil rights in my opinion because his mom let the whole world see what was done to his son, you couldn't even recognize the poor child because he was that bad tortured, and now they want to say it was all false?

    In December 5th 1955 Rosa Parks was arrested for siting where she wasn't allowed in the bus, because she needed to give up her seat for a white person. This sparked the Africans during this time and they decided to boycott the buses and started to walk instead. Africans were the main ones riding the buses anyways so what happened if there was nobody anymore, buses would decrease right? Well they did there was nobody riding the buses so they decided to desegregate later.

    Elvis was an icon during the 50's, he was a Rock 'n' Roll artist that made his life into fame. One reason why everybody loved him was because of his good looks and great dance moves, many parents didn't like the way he moved because they thought it was wrong for their teenagers to see that he was bring into the world. Elvis was an actor as well, movies like "Flaming Star and King Creole were very well known.

    A highway system that came with a lot of advantages. One of them being an easier way for evacuation just in case of a problematic situation, and an easier way to get from city to city. Also with the invention of the system the military had a great mobilization structure.

    Albert Sabin was a medical researcher in the early 1940's. His approach in the 1950's were that he helped the vaccine of Polio that was created by Doctor Salk, one things that needed to changed was the creation of it. Sabin agreed with the vaccine but that didn't prevent for the Polio from infecting other with it, so Satin needed to do something about it. So he created the "Live vaccine."

Feminism became a movement because women started politically wanting less discrimination towards them. Most women wanted to be seen as more then women in the house, they wanted to work and share the same as men.

    There was a bunch of Sit-Ins accidents that happened and one of the most tragic ones was the one that happened in North Carolina. Four black students when up to a store and set on the counter where only whites can sit and they refused to move. Whites came in a tortured the students and they still wouldn't move, they waited until they were served. The kids were sent to jail afterwards. After this the civil rights sit-ins was then born after this.
  • Chicano Mural Movement

    Culture was everything for Mexican-Americans and we needed to teach everybody about it. Artist began to draw these pictures on walls and buildings to show whites/Americans about our culture. This movement started to be developed because Mexican-Americans were seen as minorities and they didn't approve of that, so they started to show these images and develop the culture on being a Mexican.

    The counterculture era was the when the normal things that young adult needed to do where now not done. Many youngster were negatively not obeying with the normal values parents had for them. Behaviors and attitudes where messed up and where changed.

This bus was in flames, burned by whites and it created the bad vision of many around. The freedom riders who beat up and wounded by the KKK.

    The Peace Corps was founded my our 35th President John F. Kennedy. This was the act of volunteering, to other countries and helping them and supporting them by connecting with them. President had inspired students to work in poorly countries. There was many project that accumulated after this peace corps.

    Chavez was a Mexican-American civil rights leader who worked labor. Chavez was the founder of National Farm Workers Associations along with Dolores Huerta. They both were some strong activist that were fighting for the equality of labor workers. Chavez was well known for his contribute to the right of protecting the rights of those who work hard in labor. his methods were non-violent but they were strong. (United Farm Workers)

    Oswald was a Unites States marine who was the one who Assassinated President John F. Kennedy. Oswald shot Kennedy as he went thought the Dealey Plaza in Dallas Texas.

My opposing people started protesting against it because their loved ones were being sent, rich kids were safe but the others weren't, this movement alarmed many U.S citizens and also the government. This movement also was to strengthened throughout the years with intensive growth later in the years.

    In this ad you see a little girl counting the petals of a daisy flower one by one. Then you see her eye zoomed in and a nuclear bomb is blown up and you hear them saying things like "if you want to protect your child, even if it means nuclear bombs then so be it." Many parents feared this because they didn't want nuclear bombs anymore but they were useful. This ad was to insure that commanders should have the right to nuclear bombs. At the end you see "vote for president Johnson."

    This was a term used by our 36th President Lyndon B. Johnson to remove the poverty and to protect racial injustice. He created programs like Medicare or Medicaid and the Older Americans Act and Federal education funding that we actually still have today.

    A long walk of 54-miles of African Americans were protesting from Selma Alabama to Montgomery The march was to demonstrate that the African Americans were serious about the right to vote. African Americans didn't have the right to vote at this time and they wanted it, they protested for the right to and some were beat up and wrongly cussed at, but this sparked and it ended up sending the right view. Later they had was is called the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

    Black panther party was actually a different approach from the Civil Rights Movement because throughout the Civil Right there was no violence involved from the black, but the Panther Party was a self-defense act that let blacks actually use violence towards others that got in their way. The purpose of this party was to protect African Americans from police brutality mainly.

If a women wanted to she could of if a gay wanted to he/she could of. NO DISCRIMINATION was allowed and nobody was left behind because he/she was different, everybody was allowed the benefits of educational programs.

    This was a case that determine the right of abortion. Many people thought that abortion was right because it was the decision of the women, but also many people didn't approve of that because it was not right to kill a life. The decision of this case was that is was right to let women abort but before the trimester (3 months) not after it. They will be no problems with the state if this happened but if a women decided to get an abortion after trimester they will be consequences.

In 2005 Katrina hit the Gulf Coast hitting not just Louisiana but also Mississippi and Alabama making them look unrealistic. Many people lost their homes and some lost family member due to flooding, homes, cars, businesses, stores were destroyed and there was no sign of them until they were rebuild. Many lost jobs and received help from the government to restore their belongings.
