Mexico was ruled by Spain. In 1810 a priest named Father Miguel Hidalgo made the first public call for Mexico's independence. In 1821 Mexico declares it freedom and idependence from Spain. -

Sepoy Mutiny in India
The Sepoys were Indian soldiers who fought in the British army. The introduction of a new type of British rifle is what started the whole rebelion. The ammunition cartridge of the rilfle was greased with pork and beef fat, the soldiers had to bite off the end before inserting it the cartridge into the rifle. This offended the Sepoys because they did not eat pork nor beef. -

Boxer Rebellion
The rebelion began in 1899 when Boxers started attacking missionaries and Chinese converts to Christianity. The secret society combined martial arts, hatred for foreigners, and beleifs that they were invulnerable to Western weapons. Few weeks later a army of 20,000 troops captured Beijing. -
Russo-Japanese War
In the early 1900s Japan was building an empire in the east and thought Russia was a big threat to its plans. In 1904 Japanese forces attack and defeats Russia. Defeat shocks Russia and calls for change. -

Germany was forced to pay money to the war's victims. The treaty also determined responsibility for the whole war. Germany was then forced to take all responsibility of the conflicts of war. -

In 1922 the Russsian economy was starting to improve. That same year Russia reunited with neighboring lands that had been part of the Russian Empire, this new country was now known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Russia's leadership ruled the new country. -
