    Standard Oil was an Oil Company that made John Rockefeller very wealthy. Standard Oil became one of the largest monopolies in history. The name standard oil was given to make it more appealing to the customer.

    The US went to war with Spain because they were supporting the Cubans and Filipinos against the Spanish rule. A US battleship mysteriously exploded which triggered the war. The war ended during the treaty of Paris.

    The boxers in this case were a secret Chinese organizatoin called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists. They fought back agaisnt the western influence being brought into China. They tried to get rid of Chritian missionarys and western tradions.

    The Jungle was released to show the true working xonditions of the meat packing industry. This book got the food safety laws enforced more severly. Sinclair also exposed the harsh conditions immigrants had in the US.

    The Model T sold for $850 (21,000 Today), although the price dropped soon enough after more were produced. Top speed for the car was around 45 MPH and had 20 horse power. Many people liked the Model T not because its speed and reliability, but because of how stylish and luxorious it looked.

    The US joined the allies to fight against the axis powers in 1945. Japan sent a secret bomb attack on Pearl Harbor leading to the US to enter the war. The US finished the war with Japan after dropping two atomic bombs on Japans city.
