  • French & Indian War

    confliction between Great Britain and France over territory and waterways, beaver trade, religious differences, and more. Britain won the war and took back land the the French had clamed.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    The stamp act made the colonists to pay a tax on many different types of papers, documents, and playing cards. the colonists insisted that the act was unconstitutional and it resulted in much violence right after.
  • Townshend Act of 1767

    Parliament passed taxes on goods that were imported from American colonies such as glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea.it was created by Charles Townshend and Chancellor of the Exchequer.
  • Boston Massacre

    a crowd confronted eight British soldiers the mob insulted and threatened them. the soldiers fired their guns and ended up killing five colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    the Boston tea party was the result of the taxing of tea. it resulted in American colonists dumping 342 chests of tea, imported by the British into the harbor.
  • Battles of Lexington & Concord

    The first battle of the Revolutionary War, fought in Massachusetts. it marked the start of the American war.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    New England soldiers faced the British army for the first time. It was one of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolution.
  • Olive Branch Petition sent to England

    it was sent to the king as a last resort to keep from declaring war. it showed their loyalty to the British and their rights as British citizens.
  • Battle of Trenton

    George Washington's army defeated a garrison of Hessian mercenaries at Trenton. it was the first victory the colonials had for a long time
  • Articles of Confederation created

    Congress added the Articles of Confederation to the constitution. they were made to establish a national government.
  • Battle of Camden

    it was a major victory for the British. It was the worst American defeat in the field
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Washington's people beat Lord Charles Cornwallis' veteran army dug in at Yorktown in Virginia. it led to the peace negotiations that ended the war.
  • Treaty of Paris

    it ended the American Revolution and recognized the United States as an independent nation.
  • Great Compromise

    Oliver Ellsworth and Roger Sherman, and others proposed having two representatives in the Senate for each state and a changeable number of representatives in the House in proportion to its population. it settled the representation in the legislative branch.
  • Bill of Rights adopted

    the bill of rights consists of 10 amendments written by a joint House and Senate Conference Committee. it enforces the grantee of individual rights and the limitations of the federal government.
