Cezanne was born on January 19, 1839 at Aix-en-Provence, France.

Cezanne studied painting and drawing at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.

His father sent him to the University of Aix to study law but in the same year, Cezanne enrolled in the School of Design.

Throughout the 1860's, he used methods of romanticism and religion in his paintings but they were rejected.

He left to go to Paris but got self-doubt for his art so he returned to Aix to work in his father's business.

In 1862, he returned to Paris where he met Monet and Pissarro. However, he did not enjoy the lifestyle in Paris so, again, he returned back to Aix and worked on his art in isolation.

Throughout the 1870's, Cezanne's paintings start to show hints of impressionism.

Cezanne moved ot Pontoise and spent 2 years working with Pissarro. He learned that he had to paint directly from nature.

He married Hortense Fiquet.

Cezanne was given an entire room to showcase his art at the Salon des Independants in Paris.

While he was painting outside, Cezanne got caught in a storm and became ill. A few days later he died of pneumonia. He was buried at the old cemetery in his beloved hometown of Aix-en-Provence.
