He was born on February 28,1928 in Bantra,India. He was too young when his mother died so he decided to serve his country with peace.

Later he requested for investment to the general population and collected Rs.200,000/-. A maternity clinic was set up and an ambulance facility begun.

Edhi established Edhi foundation and safeguarded more than 50,000 orphans and trained more than 40,000 nurses. The Edhi foundation runs the world's biggest rescue vehicle facility and deals 24 hours emergency facilities.

Edhi Foundation has set-up 18 homes all over Pakistan.8500 younger boys and girls including elder ladies and gents have been accommodated.

He got married to Bilquis Edhi, a caretaker in Edhi centre.They have 2 sons and 2 daughters.His wife used to control the free maternity service in clinic.

In 1988, he was awarded Lenin Peace Award which is one of the most prestigious awards of the Soviet Union.

He was known as the "The angel of mercy" and "Pakistan's Mother Teresa". In 1989 he got Nishan-e-Imtiza from Government of Pakistan.Jinnah award for outstanding services to Pakistan was given to him in April 1998. This was the main award he received. It is known that he got hundreds of awards.
