    Treaty of Versailles signed
    Peace treaty that ended the state of World War I between Germany and the Allied Powers. Signed exactly 5 years after the assisnation of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The other Central Powers (German side) signed different treaties. Signed in the Versailles Palace of France, and explained that Germany pretty much had to take the whole blame for WWI and had to repay all of the countries involved.
  • US Steel Co. Strike

    US Steel Co. Strike
    US Steel refused to meet with union reps. 300,000 workers went on strike. Scabs where hired as strikers where being beaten by Fedral Troops & Police. The strike was resolved in 1920 without union, but settled on 8 hour work days.

    Congress started it after pressure from nativists, limiting immigration from southern and eastern Europe. It was set up to control and restrict immigration.

    First Miss America Pagent held, there were two parts to the contest, a beauty contest and a personality contest. The winner of the beauty contest was the "Most Beautiful Bathing Girl in America" and awarded the Golden Mermaid. Over one hundred thousand people came to the boardwalk to see who won. Margaret Gorman of Washington, D.C., she won both contests and won $100. (Social)

He was buried two days latetr in Washington's National Catherdral, being the first president to be buried in the nation's capital. (Political)

    First feature length Hollywood film with dialouge titled 'The Jazz Singer' directed by Alan Crosland was premiered. This half a million 'sound picture' made history silencing an end to silent movies. It was not the first sound movie, but it was the first feature length. Brought profits of a little more then $3.5 million.

    Creator and founder, Henry Ford watched his line of the new and improved "Model T" line prosper, affordable to most people and a reliable form of transportation. After 19 years of production and selling more than 15 million cars, production of the Ford Model T ended on May 26, 1927 and was replaced by Model A.

Herbert Hoover (R), who promised booming economy & continual growth, was against Alfred Smith (D), who was a Roman-Catholic and faced many anti-Catholic predjudice. Hoover won again by a landslide because of the people wanting to continue the economic boom of the Coolidge years.
