The American Civil war was a fight between the united States of America and the Confederate States of America. It lasted from 1861 to 1865 in North America. It started becuse of differences between the States who were free and States who were slaves over the power of their national government. -
1903: Wright Bros first powered flight
In December 17th, 1903 the Wright brothers made the first successful powered airplane. The decided to do this because they were fascinated by being able to fly, so they worked hard to create a machine that they ould use to fulfill their goal.This happened in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. -

1939-1945: World War 2
World war 2 started with the assisination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Germany declared war on Russia and invaded France via Belgium, which then caused Britain to declare war on Germany.
Hitler's invasion of Poland in September 1939 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany. Six million European Jews and at least five million prisoners of war died. -
1947-1991: Cold War
The Cold War was an ongoing political rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union and their respective allies that developed after World War II, and had lasted for almost 50 years. -
1958: Launch of Project Mercury
Project Mercury was the first human spaceflight program of the United States,that lasted between 1958 to 1963. The point of Project Mercury was to put a man into Earth orbit and return him safely. There were a few astronauts that went on this mission. -
January 31, 1961: Ham, the first chimp to be launched into space
In 1961 Ham the chimp became the first ape launched into space. He was launched into space because they wanted him to test life support systems and demonstrate that equitment could be operated during spaceflight. -
February 20, 1962: John Glenn flies the Friendship 7 mission and becomes the first American to orbit Earth
On Febuary 20, 1962, NASA astronaut John Glenn launched from Florida's Cape Canaveral inside a tiny capsule named Friendship 7. The Mercury spacecraft circled Earth three times,until it landed down in the water near the Islands of Turks and Caicos, four hours and 55 minutes after liftoff. -
July 20, 1969: Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin become the first humans to land on the moon
Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on July 20, 1969. They landed 6 hours and 39 minutes after liftoff. At this time was when Neil Armstrong became the first man to step foot on the moon.
