The first American "community" in North America. Founded in 1585, but mysteriously vanished sometime afterwards and was never found. Was located on the island shore of North Carolina. -
Jamestown Settlement
The first true American settlement. Was founded in 1607 in Virginia, and was founded because the settlers thought gold was in area. -
House of Burgesses
The first ever American-Britain government. Located in Virginia. -
The Mayflower Compact
The first American government document. Was made and signed due to the fact that the pilgrims landed to far off of the designated area. -
Roger Williams founds Rhode Island
Rhode Island is founded by Roger Williams. It was founded because of the strict religion rules in other colonies. -

American document stating American changes to fill Britains needs. -
Bacon's Rebellion
A farmer leads a militia of other angry farmers on a rampage due to extremly high whiskey tax prices. -
Pennsylvania is founded
William Penn founds Pennsylvania for religious tolerance. -
Witchcraft Delusions of Salem, Mass
Innocent people in Salem, Mass. are acused of being witches, and are burned, drowned, hanged, or decaptited. Over 20 people were murdered. -

A religious group tours around the colonies and spreads religion. It begins in 1726. -
Poor Richard's Almanak
Benjamin Franklin publishes Poor Richard's Almanak in 1732. It is the first dictionary/alminac in America. -
The Zenger Trials
A newspaper writer and editor named John Peter Zenger is trialed for speaking negativly against the British governor. This sparked freedom of speech. -
French and Indian War
The French go to war with the Native Americans because of land. It lasted from 1754 to 1763. -
Proclamation of 1763
A British paper saying Americans are forbidden to go past the Appalachian Mountains. -
Sugar Act
Britain puts high taxes on lumber, sugar, and rum so Americans can pay back war debts for the French and Indian war. -
Stamp Act
Britains forces Americans pay high taxes so the British Royal Army can get funded. -
Quatering Act
Britians force Americans to house and take care of British troops. -
Townshend Acts
High taxes are put on paper, glass, paint, and wood. -
Boston Massacre
British troops fire into a crowd of people in Boston. 5 people, including respected Crispus Attucks, were killed. -
Boston Tea Party
Due to the high taxes on American products, America rebels by dumping several thousands of pounds of imported British tea into the ocean. -
Intolerable Acts
A punishment from Britain to America from the Boston Tea Party. -
The Revolutionary War
A huge war against America and Britain over independence. Fought in America. American general was George Washington, and the British general was Lord Cornwallis. Lasted to 1783. -

Paul Revere and William Dawes ride through Concord warning the people that the british are coming. -
Common Sense
The famous pamphlet by Thomas Paine that descirbed pro-independence. Sold over 100,000 copies. -

American naval general John Paul Jones defeats British ship The Serapis. A huge victory for the war. -

British general Lord Cornwallis is defeated in Yorktown to general George Washington. The last battle of the Revolutionary War. -
The Treaty of Paris
Britain signs a peace treaty. America officially wins the Revolutionary War and has independence from Britain. -
Northwest Ordinance
The Northwest Ordinance is made to clarify the rules and requirements of territories and new states. -

Several important icons, including George Washington and James Madison go to Philiadelphia for a special meeting. -
George Washington: The 1st U.S. President
Revolutionary War general George Washington is elected president of the USA. He is the very first president in American history. -
The Bill of Rights
To the states that ratified the Constitiution. -
Eli Whitney
Eli Whitney creates the cotton gin, which makes it much easier for slaves to harvest and clean cotton. It was intended to decrease slavery, but did the complete opposite. -
George Washington's Farewell Address
George Washington leaves the presidents office. He gives a speech explaining that America should be nuetral and not befriend or betray any other country. This is ignored. -
The Louisiana Purchase
Thomas Jefferson of America buys The Louisiana Purchase from France. It stretches from Mexico to Canada, and cost $3 million. It doubles the size of the USA. -
Lewis and Clark Exploration
2 explorers named Lewis and Clark explore the newly owned Louisiana Purchase. They travelled from Missouri to Washington. They returned in late 1806. -
The Steamboat
Robert Fulton creates the steamboat, which can go against the current at high speeds. This changes transportation and colonizing in America. -
The War of 1812
Britain teams up with the natives and go against America once again. There is no offical winner for this war. -
The Star-Spangled Banner
Francis Scott Key writes the famous song "The Star-Spangled Banner" after witnessing the battle of Ft McHenry during The War of 1812. -
The Monroe Doctrine
James Monroe issues his document stating American interventions and European colonization in America. -
The Trail of Tears
Cherokee indians are forced to walk from Georgia to modern day Oklahoma. Over 4,000 native lives are lost due to illness and starvation. -
The Telegraph
The first message is sent over a telegraph by Samuel F.B. Morse. This eventually leads to the invention of the telephone and the internet. -
Compromise of 1850
Henry Clay admits California as the 31st state of America. Slavery is forbidden in this new state. -
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Harriet Beecher Stowe publishes her novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin". It involves slavery. -
The Case of Dred Scott
Dred Scott, a slave, sues for his freedom as a citizen. However, the court denies because he was once a slave, which means he is not a US citizen. This leads to People's Rights. -
Abraham Lincoln is President
Abraham Lincoln is admitted as the 16th president of the USA. This upsets the south. -
The Civil War
Seven southern states succeed from the USA and form the CSA, with Jefferson Davis as president. The two countries go to war, in The Civil War. -
The Battle of Antietam
The bloodiest battle of the war. -
Emancipation Proclomation
Frees all slave that live in areas that are still in rebellion. -
Gettysburg Address
After the union won at The Battle of Gettysburg, President Lincoln gives a short but great speech at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. -
General Lee Surrenders
CSA General Robert E Lee surrenders to the USA. The Union wins the war. -
Lincoln is shot
President Lincoln is shot by John Wikes Booth while attending a theater show. Lincoln dies the next day. -
The 14th Amendment
This provides citizenship for new Americans. -
The 15th Amendment
This makes race no bar to voting rights. -
The Red Cross
Clara Barton creates The Red Cross, a group that takes care of soldiers and helps those in need. This group still exists today.
