Thrasher was founded in January of 1981. This company was made to promote their other company, Independent Truck Company which was started in 1978. Thrasher was basically a magazine company that would have a skating catalog (started in 1989) and sponsored skaters like Tony Hawk (started in 1990). -
This was a very good idea for Thrasher, considering that they were only a promotional company. Thrasher started making lots more money. Thrasher then spent most of that money producing more magazines for other countries. More people started buying Thrasher's magazines and Thrasher made even more money. -
With all of the leftover money from mass production to foreign countries, Thrasher started sponsoring skaters like Wes Kremer, Rodney Mullen, and even Tommy Guerrero. People started becoming more interested in Thrasher, and the revenue income for skate companies like Skate Mag and Thrasher. Thrasher started making the most money because they had thought of the idea. Promotional competitions became very famous after that. -
Thrasher started going against companies like Vans and Skate Mag which made it way harder to work. After this, Thrasher started making less money. Thrasher started losing more people that they were sponsoring and people became less interested in Thrasher. -
Thrasher started making clothes. After they got the idea from Vans, they were back at the top. Famous rappers and actors were paid to wear their clothing and Thrasher continued making more money. -
Thrasher started making skateboards, and once again, made more money. Thrasher started sponsoring more skaters again and even got people to wear their clothing in movies! Thrasher was even more popular. -
I think that Thrasher might start making things like maglev stands for their skateboards or even skating equipment. Thrasher has been hinting things like this for a long time, and I think it would be really cool if they had started that!
