    Thomas was born in 1847 in Milan, Ohio USA,Thomas grew up in port Huron. He had a big head. That is why his teachers thought he was stupid. That and his constant questions, He was a poor student. When a schoolmaster called him "addled," his mother got angry and took him out of school to teach him at home. She was sure that he was not stupid,even though some of the neighbor's thought Thomas 'wasn't quite right in the head'.

    Thomas always wanted to know why ( grain elevator )
    Thomas was a very curious boy. At the age of 3 he fell into a grain elevator. All because he wanted to see how it worked. At the age of 4 his​ father found him squatting on egg's to see if he could hatch the egg's. At age 7 his mom (who had been a teacher) took him out of school and taught him at home. He loved to read, chemistry book's were his favorite books. he did more than just read them, he tried many of the experiments in the books.

    Thomas had met Mary, she was an employee at one of his shops. Two months later Edison married Mary Stilwell, she was 16. They had three children: Marion, Thomas Jr., and William Edison. Mary Edison died at age 29 on August 9, 1884 of unknown causes.

    In 1878 Edison began working on the light bulb. Contrary to popular belief, he didn't "invent" the light bulb, but rather he improved upon a 50-year-old idea. The idea of electric lighting was not a new idea a number of people had worked on and even developed forms of electric lighting before Edison. But up to that time nothing had been developed that was remotely practical for home use.

    On February 24, 1886,Thomas married 20-year-old Mina Marriage to Minailler. She was the daughter of the inventor Lewis Miller. They had three children: Madeleine, Charles, and Theodore Edison.

    The first great invention developed by Edison in Menlo Park was the tin foil phonograph. Edison had a film studio where he made lots of films. Thomas was also granted a patent for the motion picture camera or "Kinetograph" he developed.

    Thomas Edison died of complications of diabetes on October 18, 1931, in his home, "Glenmont," in West Orange, New Jersey. He was 84 years old. On the day Thomas Edison died the President of America asked everyone to turn off their lights for one hour, in a tribute to his genius.
