    Ted began going to Darthmouth College in 1921. He graduated in 1925 with a bachelor's degree. In 1925 he went to Oxford to pursue a doctorate in english. He never completed his studies there, Ted dropped out a year later in 1926.
  • Cartoon Days

    Throughout his time in college, Theodore made cartoons for Darthmouth's newspaper the Jack-o-Lantern. He published cartoons until he was kicked off for breaking school rules. He contined to submit cartoons using other names. He did this from the time he started until he gradutated in 1925.

    Ted's first wife was Helen Palmer. The met in 1926 where she convinved Ted to drop out of Oxford and pursure being a cartoonist. Together they live in the lower west side of New York. They were married for fourty years before Helen comminted suicide.

    Throughout his career Theodore Geisel has used many different names. In the year of 1927 he used the name Dr. Theophrastus Seuss. In 1928. he shortened that to Dr. Seuss. In 1968 a book was published under the name of Theo. LeSieg.

    Sometime in the year 1928 Theodore began the 17 year campaign for the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey. Geisel's cartoon ads usually involved a group of people being threatened by a whimsical looking mosquitoe.

    After Ted published The Cat In The Hat his publisher challenged that he could not right a book using less words. He accepted this challenge and wrote Green Eggs and Ham, only using 50 words. This book is the fourth best-selling childrens book of all time.

    On a beautiful summer day, Theodore Geisel married his second wife Audrey Stone.This marrige occured less than a year after his first wife comminted suicide. When he married Audrey, Ted got two step-children.

    During a trip to Africa Dr. Seuss recieved inspiration to write of his The Lorax. Ted was looking out the window of his hotel when he saw men cutting down trees. This action is the main conflict in the book. The exact date of publication is unknown, but the year was 1971.

    At aporximetaly 10:00pm on the 24th of September Ted Geisel died in his sleep. His death didn't occur as a shock to many, for he had been suffering from cancer for many years.
