    Many people have Type 1 Diabetes, but this young man got his diabetes at the age of 12. This boy is Bobby McMullen. Ever since he got diabetes, his doctor told him to excersie more, which he said" I have to play more?" He said this because he was on a football team. He always lives life to its fullest and never gives up even though now he's blind(visually impared.)     When he was 29 years old, Bobby became blind. Once he was blind, he had to leave law school.

    During his World Championships, he became extremly sick. Bobby ended up getting dialysis.

    In 1997, Bobby put his name on waiting list for a pancreas and kidney donor. a month later, he had his surgery.

    Then he started resuming with skiiing, but later started excperiencing acute renal rejection. (Acute Renel Rejection is when your body doesn't except the new organs in your body.)

    In 2001, Bobby McMullen was back on dialysis. This was his second time.

    Here, Bobby competed in a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 11-mile race. This raced is called "Challenged Athletes Foundation Half Ironman."

    Bobby has raced in many different races. One of his most famous race is the Downieville Classic Mountain Bike Race. This is a 17-mile course with many obsticles to go through. Bobby McMullen said "There is 100 ways to do this race." He also said " Although I'm blind, I memorized this trail." He ended up passing 8 other racers and finished the race in 1 hour and 35 minutes. Over all, Bobby loves biking and will never give up.

    He raced at the Euro Cup SuperEnduro in Sauze d' Oulx, Italy. Bobby McMullen was the first visually impare rider to race in this race( overall when this race has ever been done.)
