It is super cold at Flint, Michigian. YOu would be dumb to go outside. It's so cold outside that it's also cold inside. Kenny's family is huddled together on the couch, trying to keep warm -
Bryon got his lip stuck
Bryon and Kenny got sent out to scrap one side of the Brown Bomber ( their car) Bryon starts mumbling his name. Kenny thinks it's a trick so he ignores. He takes a look and Bryon got his lips stuck to the side mirror on the car. The whole family comes out and mom grabs his head and yanks him off the mirror! -
Rufus
In school, things aren't looking great for Kenny until this kid Rufus moves to Flint from Arkansas. Rufus is poor and raggedy and he talk with a Southern accent. At first Kenny is excited that all the bullies have someone else to bully. But instead, Rufus and Kenny become friends -
Bryon is getting in trouble
Later in the school year progresses and Bryon is getting into trouble. He beats up Larry Dunn, he sets things on fire, he kills a bird with a cookie and then gets really upset about it. Bryon's mom and dad are pretty frustrated. Bryon gets his hair chemically straightened without permission, so their dad shaves Bryon's head. Bald. -
On the way to birmingham
( date is may 30 2017) Kenny's dad sticks to his plan and keeps driving nonstop. It been ten years since the Watson last visited Birmingham. Whey they get there lots of hugging and crying happens. -
The trip to Grandma Sands
Kenny's mom and Dad announce that that the whole family is taking a trip to Birmingham to see Grandma Sands. Bryon has to stay with her the whole summer or until he learns to behave. -
Wooh Pooh
Down at Grandma Sand's, Bryon starts being nice. Everyone decide to go swimming, but Grandma Sands warn them to stay away from Collier's landing where there's a dangerous whirlpool that drowned a boy. Bryon tells Kenny and Joey that the Wool pooh is Winnie-the Pooh's evil twin that pulls kids into the water -
Kenny makes bad choices
Kenny wants to go see Collier's Landing anyway. Bryon say they should listen to Grandma. Kenny goes anyway. Kenny nearly drowns when the Wool Pooh takes him down. Bryon Manages to save him -
The bomb at the church
A few days later, Joey goes to church with the neighbors. While he is away from his family a bomb goes off in the church -
Looking for Joey
The whole family runs down to find her but they can't find her anywhere. Kenny thinks the Wool Pooh got Joey this time. Kenny is afraid it will get him too, so he runs back home -
Kenny hides behind the couch
Everyone is pretty upset about the bombing, but Kenny is having the toughest time. He starts hidding behind the couch and won't talk to anyone -
bryon checks on Kenny
Bryon seems to have really changed. He check in on Kenny and tried to help him feel better. -
Kenny loses it
One day, Kenny just loses it and starts crying. It turns out he's been feeling guilty, because he didn't try to save Joey from the Wool Pooh -
Bryon tries to help
Bryon tries to tell Kenny that nothing was his fault. Kenny finally feels ready to come out of hiding.
