  • 9/11 Attacks

    On September 11, 2001, four US airliners were hijacked, Two were flown into the World Trade Centers, one was flown into the pentagon, and one was crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The one that crashed into the field was supposed to crash into the white house. This marked one of the worst attacks on U.S. soil by foreign powers, and was a major push in the U.S.'s offense on terrorism.
  • President Bush Says That Catching Osama Is His Goal

    President Bush says in a confference that catching the Al Qaeda Leader Osama Bin Laden is his top prioritie, saying: “The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden,” he says. “It is our No. 1 priority and we will not rest until we find him.”
  • The War In Afghanistan Begins

    Shortly after the first U.S. missiles hit Kabul, TV news channels air clearly pre-recorded footae of Osama Bin Laden. Dressed in combat fatigues, he says: “I say these events have split the whole world into two camps: the camp of the faithful and the camp of the infidels. Every Muslim should support his religion.”
  • Congress Passes Patriot Act

    The patriot act was passed, granting search and electronical surveillance powers to federal agenceis while investigating persons or people suspected of terrorism or terroristic acts.
  • U.S. Soldiers Start Distributing Leaflets In Afghanistan Offering A $25 Million Reward For Bin Laden

    The bounty is later raised to $27 million with donations from the Airline Pilots Association and the Air Transport Association.
  • The Battle At Tora Bora Rages In Afghanistan

    Before escaping capture by U.S. forces, bin Laden signs a last will and testament on Dec. 14, 2001.
  • The Pentagon Releases A Video

    The Pentagon releases a video that they claim shows Bin Laden discussing the 9/11 attacks with people at an Al Qaeda hosted dinner in Afghanistan. In the video, he claims that the attacks went much better than he expected.

    More than 200 people from 21 countries are killed in a terrorist bombing on the island of Bali. The network of terrorists responsible is found to have ties to al-Qaeda.
  • Militants Seize Theater

    50 armed Chechen Militants seize a theater in Moscow where over 800 people were gathered for a show. Over 120 of these people die when security forces try to take back the building.
  • Drone Attacks Begin

    The C.I.A. Begins a series of predator drone attacks against al-Qaeda in Yemen.
