President Nixon of the USA anounced a full American Withdrawal was in order, the Australians defence force soon followed.

PM Gordon Announces Withdrawal

Apr 22, 1970

The Australian PM John Gorton announces that the 8 battalion will not be replaced when their vietnamese tour is over, therefore initiating the main phase of withdrawal.

Last battalions Serve in Vietnam

Sep 22, 1971

The last Australian Battalions arrive in Vietnam, that is the 3rd and 4th Battalions of the Royal Australian Regiment.
