  • 1st Telegraph in the US

    In 1828, the first telegraph in the USA. was invented by Harrison Dyar who sent electrical sparks through chemically treated paper tape to burn dots and dashes. It ended in 1877 due to the invention of the telephone (was still used, but unpopular). The more famous Morse Code telegraph was developed in 1878 by Samuel Mose developing Morse code. This was used to communicate especially in times of war as coded messages.
  • Pony Express (ended June 1860)

    The Pony Express was a mail service,delivering messages and mail from St. Joseph, Missouri across the Great Plains, over the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Sacramento, CalWilliam Russell, Alexander Majors and William Waddell were the three founders of the Pony Express. They put together the Pony Express in about two months in the winter of 1860. The Pony Express demonstrated that a unified transcontinental system of communications could be established and operated year round.

    In his younger years, Bell tried to develop a multiple telegraph. He used Morse code to send many messages at the same time but each at a different pitch. He realized that he could find a way to convey pitch across a wire by reproducing sound waves in a continuous current. Then he noticed that this could also apply to human speech.
  • 1st Rotary Dial Phone

    Invented by Almon Strowger, the rotary dial is a device mounted on a telephone or that is designed to send electrical pulses corresponding to the number dialed. The earliest form of the rotary dial used lugs on a finger plate instead of holes.

    The first portable telephone was 2.5 pounds, and a man by the name of Martin Cooper was the first to use it. As an employee of the Motorola company, he got his hands on the first tested prototype of a portable telephone. The call he made was to the rival company of Bell Labs. He stated that many respectable people of the New York streets stopped and gaped at him, dumbstruck at the sight of the first ever movable phone.

    Ericsson's GS 88 "Penelope" did not appear as a the term "Smart Phone" till 1997, even though the sale was beign offered in the beginning of 1994 and the combining of the telephoena dn computing occured in 1973. There is no offical definition for the difference between smart phones and feature phones. The most significant is APIs ,or advanced application programming, that help run third-party apps that allow a better relationship between the phone's OS and hardware in typical with feature phones
  • 1st iPhone was made.

    The first iPhone was announced by Steve Jobs on January 9, 2007. It only became available to the public a few months later on June. Since then, the iPhone has gone through five generations. It has been seen as a revolution in the world of technology because of it's high tech features such as the display, touch screen, many apps, and high speed putting it as the world's most popular phone.
