    Motorola DynaTac 8000X
    Although officially first created in 1973 by Martian Cooper, the Motorla's DynaTac didn't become commercially available until 1983. This began the "original" mobile phone as this was the first phone used to make a call over a cellular network. The device weighing 0.793kg, standing 1.3 inches high, storing 30 numbers in the phone-book, it took 10 hours to charge and was sold commercially for $3,995.

    In the development of the Motorola MicroTac 9800, Motorola set out to attract the high end market, competing and producting one of the smallest and lightest handsets on the market at that time. Although the device offered many features compared to its competitors the negatives are highlighted as; 4.5x7 inches, 1 inch think, weighing almost one pound.

Although the camera quality was not as we know it today, it opened up the many potential possibilities of what future phones could offer.
