    In 1860s and 1870s a lot of people like Johann Reis, Antonio Meucci.. were all trying out the first telephones, but in 1879 Bell's was the first patent. Bell's fist telephone had one combined mouthpiece and earpiece. When you spoke into the born the voice was comberted into electric signals which were carried along telephone wires.
