The Pope told him to take it down and he refused. The Pope excommunicated from the Catholic church. And he began his own church. It was important because it help create a new relgion.

They was supposed to land in Virginia but they landed in Massachusetts. William Bradford became governor of Plymouth Plantation. It was difficult time and there was only 50 people left. The Squanto Massasoit & Samoset helped the Pilgrims. And on Oct. 1621 became 1st Thanksgiving.

On April 18, 1775 the British troops started moving from Boston to Concord. 3 people warned the people of Lexington, On April 19, 1775 the British arrived at Lexington- they killed 8 colonists. But all the military supplies was moved. And this was the 1st battle of thr American Revolution.

    The blattle of Yorktown was with Gen. Comwallis and Washington. Gen. Conwallis marched to the north torward Yorktown. And he wanted to know what Washington was planning so one of Washington ex soldiers told him. Washington marched south to try to end the war. They beat the British in Yorktown. This was important in the U.S history because this was the last battle in the war and this was the first step to get are independence.

    In 1840 a discovery of a tiny gold nugget led to an out break of gold fever. People from all over came to California. In 1839 a guy named John Sutter arrived in California an lied about who he was and they gave him 5,000 acres of land. James Maeshell, a carpenter, found a piece of gold. The word spread across the world, 49ers files three routes to get to Californis. The gold rush ended in 1852. This was important to the U.S history because it help California become a state.

    All citizens are required to return all runaway slaves. If they dont they have to pay a $1000 fine or you have to spend 6 months in jail. And if a boundy hunter can not find the slave they will find someone who look like the slave and grab them and take them back. Then they have to go one trail. If the judge gets $10 dollars if they return to the south , and $5 dollar id they stay in the north.

    Dred Scoot was a slave to a military doctor and the doctor will travel everywhere. When they was in Wisconsin the docter died, so Scott said he was a free man. The doctor family came to come get the doctors stuff and that included Dred Scott. But he said that he was a free man so he sues for his freedom. He lost the case; the Supreme Court said the slave are property not people.

    It happened on Apirl 12. Fort Sumter was controlled by the Union. The Confederates opened fire on the fort. The Union was fored to surrender. This was the first battle of the Civil War. Lincoln said this war world only take 6 months but it lasted 5 years.

    This batle only lasted 3 days. Gen. Robert E. Lee led the offensive attack. On the second day Gen. Chamberlain of the Union secured the hill. On the third day of the war Gen. Pickett of the Confederate attach the hill but the Union got the Confederate to retreat. This was the turning point of the war for the Union.
