    Recognized American independence and also gave the Americans all land east of the Mississippi River.

    Allowed the government to survey and divide the Northwest Territory into townships of equal acreage

  • Shay's Rebellion

    As a means to repay the war debt, Massachusetts raised the taxes to the point that farmers could no longer pay them. The governments then took the farmers land and sent them to prison. This all resulted in an uprising that proved that the articles of Confederation created a weak central government.
