  • The Beginging

    The Beginging
    After fighting off Naser Orics Bosnian Muslim extremist army for good and attacking other north eastern parts of Bosnia, the Serbia extremest started shelling a small town near the border of Bosnia and serbia called Srebrenica. This town had been declared a safe zone ans had 600 ill equiped Dutch soldiers placed their by the UN and had nearly all the refugees from the previous attacks living in at that point.

    The fuel had been running low and there hadn't been a fresh food shipment since May causing everyone to ration what little food they had or starve if they had non. The Dutch commander started to sense this could be lots of danger asked the UN for air support.

    The Serbian shelling and bombing intensifies. Other Serbians make advancements and attack a Dutch watch post taking 30 hostage.
  • Hope

    Hope
    Dutch commander Colonel Karremans asks for UN air support which is originally turned down but eventually accepted. Then the shelling stopped and the air strike was postponed. Wondering what happened 4,000 refugees and towns folk flooded the town square looking for answers their Colonel Karremans told them that there will be an airstrike on the Serbs at 6:00 AM unless they had withdrawn.

    By morning the Serbs forces did not withdraw, after having problems with sending the airstrike request on the right form and the planes having to refuel the first airstrike happened at 2:30 PM rather than the 6:00 AM they had planned. By then 20,000 refugees had already fled to the Dutch base in Potocari. After the strike the Serbs rold Colonel Karremans that they would kill the 30 hostages and start shelling again, stopping the strikes.

    The Split up
    After Colonel Karremans and the Serbian general Ratko Mladic have a meeting the night before in the morning many buses come picking up around 20-25 thousand women and children taking them to safe muslim territories. Meanwhile the men are split up for “Interrogating” but are really held in trucks and warehouses. Around 15,000 try to escape through the mountains but are eventually shelled, killing most.

    The Masacre Really Starts

    The Killing began in a village close to Srebrenica called Kravica. Then after negotiating for a while the UN peacekeepers gave 5,000 muslims to the Serbs in exchange for 14 of the 30 peacekeepers being held hostage.
  • The Word Gets Out

    The Word Gets Out
    The survivors of the long journey from Srebrenica to the safe muslim territory finally make it and start to give reports on what had been happening for the last few weeks, and after countless hours of negotiation the Serbians allow the Dutch troops to leave.

    Endless Killing

    Over the course of five long days the Serbs massacre 7,000 Bosnian men at different sites near Srebrenica and bury the bodies in mass graves.

    Not Done Yet

    After the Serbs finished killing they ethnically cleansed Srebrenica and expelled 20,000 people from their home. Then renamed it Republika Srpska.
