its a story of 2 different people so its kind of hard to follow. Sir arthur conan doyle the writer of the sherlock holmes stories is writing his final story and has sherlock holmes killed by getting pushed off a bridge, this takes place in the 1890s. then it switches to the story of harold white and how he is being welcomed to the sherlockian group. -

a man named alex cale,one of the biggest sherlockians in history,finds a lost diary of the sherlock holmes stories.he believes he is being followed and secludeds himself from the other sherlockians.he is supposed to give a huge speech about the diary but goes missing.a reporter starts to ask harold questions about alex and his whereabouts.they later find alex dead in his hotel room.the missing diary is now gone and they find a secret message written in the corner written in blood.it said- -

somebody tried to assassinate sir arthur conan doyle by leaving a bomb in a package at his front step. he doesnt realize what it is until he opens it in his study. after it explodeds nobody is hurt but he does an investigation of who did it. harold is confronted by a family member of conan and wants the book back. he sends harold and the reporter to england to find out where alex found the book and who was following him. -

found his message machine and listens to the last message before he died. it was from a guy named sebastian conan doyle. hes threatening alex that if alex gives the book away he will regret it. -

arthur finds a letter with the bomb with a comic of a dead girl in a bathtub with a 3 headed crow tattoo on her side. he finds out that a lady with that tatto had been murdered at a hotel and decideds to find out who it was. when he found the hotel he discoveres that the women was in a wedding dress when she came in and had been recently married so he goes to a library with marriage records. henry found alexs' sister and she shows them where he was studying and living. it was a mess. they - -

the girl that arthur had discovered was sally needling. he decideds to go to her house and tell her family of the tragedy. she used to wear a ruby hair clip all the time, and was a quiet girl. their names were janet and emily. she used to go have "meetings" with them all the time. the parents acted strange when they were talking about it like they were trying to cover something up. he went to her room to find any letters from her friends. he only found letters from her brothers in the drawers he -

the reporter( sarah) finally tells harold that shes not a reporter. she used to be a roporter but is in the middle of a divorce so she isnt anymore. harold got a phone call with sebastian who left alex a message on his phone. he swears he didnt kill alex. they belive sebastian and have a metting with him. sebastian has all the autopsys, police reports, crime scene reports. alex cale was strangled to death and the blood that had written elementary in the corner was alexs' blood. though in all the -

arthur goes to the poilce(specifically ispector miller) and tells him he had found the person who attempted to kill him. he tells him that it was a women that tried. he goes on to tell him that shes insane but intelligent. but as soon as hes going to tell him a boy interupts them and tells the inspector that edward henry has left and that he has to leave. he tells him to tell constable billings and that theyll pick up anbody he likes. arthur goes on to say that they will catch her red handed -

making bombs. he tells him that its emily davinson and her address. as the inspector begins to leave he asks if arthur will come help investigate the scene. arthur asks why. the investigator said because its the apparent murder of emily davinson of clerkenwell. harold comes to the conclusion that alex cale killed himself and that he was leaving sherlockian clues behind as his reasons to where they lead. -

sarah had turned out to be married to sebastian and was getting a divorce from him. athur conan doyle brings back sherlock holmes in his last story by ressurecting him. soon after his story he was murdered. sebastian had the diary the whole time but was testing harold on his sherlockian skills and declares him the best sherlockian.
