  • Prohibition

    In 1900's the banning of alcohol grew stronger and finally in 1920 the eighteenth amendment was passed banning alcohol.
  • The Great Migration

    Started in 1916 - 1970, the Great Migration occurred during World War I, hundreds of thousands of African Americans joined the movement from the rural South or the industrial cities in the North.
  • Creation of the Radio

    Helped create national community as people across the country could listen to the same music, sports, new, ans entertainment programs.
  • Sacco-Vanzetti Case

    Two men robbed and murdered two men of a shoe factory. The case furor when newspaper reveled that the two men were anarchists.
  • Ku Klux Klan

    The old KKK moved to the South after the Civil War. The old KKK targeted African Americans. The new KKK targeted Catholics, Jews, Immigrants and other group said to be "un-american". William J. Simmons founded this klan in 1915.

  • Teapot Dome

    A bribery incident involving the administration of then president Warren G. Harding. The Teapot Dome was a government scandal.
  • National Origins Act

    In 1924, this act made immigration restriction a permanent policy. The law set quotas at two percent pf each national group represented in the U.S. Census of 1890.
  • John T. Scopes

    In 1925, Tennessee outlawed and teaching the denied "the story of the divine Creation of man as taught in the bible" or " or taught by man". John, a biology teacher taught evolution and was arrested for it.
  • Harlem Renaissance

    The cities of Harlem were flowing with nightclubs and music. It was there in Harlem that African American artistic development, racial pride, and political organization thrived.
  • Charles Lindbergh

    Charles Lindbergh flew mail and later won $25,000. Charles made an amazing transatlantic solo flight in 1927. Doing so it showed it was possible for commercial aviation.

    Was the first feature-length motion picture with a synchronized recorded music and lip synchronized singing.

    First female aviator , she was also author. During her solo flight across the Atlantic she disappeared.
