President Harding dies
President Harding dies putting Calvin Coolidge in office. He had to quickly clean up scandals. He was reelected in 1924. He enforced the laissez faire which said that business would act in a way that would help out the nation. He was an isolationist, because he wanted to stay out of other nation's problems. -
The Klu Klux Klan Makes a return
The KKK believed that America should be all white and discriminated against the blacks. The Klan became very strong in many states. The Klan had over 5 million member in 1924. It would use violence to help persuade people on its political views. By the end of the decade it began to decline. -
Two Women Elected Governor
Nellie Tayloe Ross was elected as governor of Wyoming, and Miriam Ferguson for Texas. This was a big deal because it took 50 years for an equal right amendment to pass congress. -
John Scopes cause a National Problem
John Scopes broke a law caused by fundamentals. Fundamentals was the belief word for word interpretation of the bible. The Fundamentals were mad because they didn't believe in evolution, and didn't want it being taught in school. The convinced 12 states to ban teaching of evolution. John Scopes broke that law in Dayton, Tennessee, and it caused national attention. -
Lindbergh Flies across the Atlantic
Lindbergh was the first person to fly without stopping across of the Atlantic. He was motivated by an offer of $25,000 to anyone who would fly over it nonstop. He flew 3,600 mile in 33 hours, he was seen as a hero. -
Kellogg Brian Pact
It was a pact made by Calvin Coolidge. The pact was signed by 15 nations. The pact states that that the nations won't start war on each other unless its self defense. Americans loved the idea of this pact hoping it would be successful and stop war. -

Babe Ruth became the first player to hit 60 home runs in one year. -
Amelia Earhart
She was the first lady passenger to fly across the Atlantic. -
