    King Goerge made a procamation stating that the colonists couldnt settle past the west appalation mountains
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This was an act inplaced by King George that rasied revenue to pay for the recent French and Indian war that sent Great Britian into debt. Most people know this act to be the one that increased th duty on sugar that was imported to the colonists.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This is a taxing on Newspapers, and other legal or commercial documents. This was one of the first taxes imposed on the colonists and really didnt work because they didnt have a good enough system to track it.

    Patrick Henery's "If this be treason, then make the most of it" speech
    This speech probabey wasnt the numbre one headr of speech all around but it still influenced people to stand against Henry. In the middle of his speech he started to list names of assasinated leaders and teh people replied with cries of treason. patrick caimly finished his sentence saying "...may profite by their example, if this be treason, make the most of it."

    The Townshed Act had many layers to it. It firstly paid for the leaders of governmetal things. Second this act put duties on imported glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacure was inded a massacure, but if it wasnt for this even the war would of been delaid by about ten years. This is what happened. after alot of British solders were sent to the city of Boston people made it a habbit not to treat them with a soldiers respect but really who would. Anyway, one night the soldiers shot some naughty citizens because of suposedly they were assulting the soldiers. That lame excuse held nothing in court and many of the soldiers were convicted.

    This was basically imposed to prop the East India Trading company. It imposted taxes on tea being transported into America.

    In a rebelition to the crazt taxes that were being forced on the colonists, citizen of massachusets, mostly college students snuck upon 3 ships contaning tea and dumped 342 chest of tea in the harbor below. That is about 42,000 lbs of tea.

    This is a series of laws that were set into motin to punish the colonists afer the boston tea party. Some of these acts include the well known Quartering Act, the admisistration of Justice act, the Massachusetts governemtn act, and the Quebec act. it also included the cloing of Boston Harbor.

    This was a big fancy convention when delegates from each of the 12 colonies came together. they did this in responce to the acts passed by the British. There main goal in life at that moment was to fix the relationship with England but it was hard because these were all highly educated men and they all believed they were right.

This speech was so important because of how Henery was able to manipulate words into a strong and pursusaive speech that could move an adience. He gave his speechon a respectful manner which really helped the publics view of the speechover all. the speech it's self was given on the topis to influence people to stand up against the British government that were oppressing the colonists rights.

    Paul Revere
    Paul Revere made his famous midnight ride acrossed the Charles River and into lexington on April 18, 1775. Paul did this to inform John Handcock and Samuel Adams that yes inded, the British were coming. The system accually ran on a system of lanterns and not really Paul ridding in and screaming that the British were coming.Fun Fact about Paul is he was one of the people who toke part in the boston tea party.

    This was the first battle of the revolutionary war. First off, 77 minute men come upon 700 british soldiers. the shot heard around the world happened and bang 9 minute men injured and 8 dead and only one on the british side kicked the bucket. Next the british set off the find the rebels weapon stash in concord. On their journey 2000 minute men shot at the The British never found their weapons stash and this inforced the Rebles beleif that they can kick British trash.

    the second Continetal Congress meeting toke place after the revolution began really. at this convention they appointed George Washington as Commander and Cheif of the Continetal Army. Some miss conseptions of this meeting was that everyone was so excitted to rebel against England. No, there were still plenty of the reps that didnt think that battleing the mother would be the smartest thing, expecially because Britian was the number one military power at the time.

    Battle at Bunker Hill
    American troops were ordered to move to bunker hill so they could over see the british towns. the troops by mistake accually went to Breed's hill instead. this mistake accually gave the american a great advantage. When the british soldiers marched up the hill to attck the colonists becasue they couldnt get there connon fire and ships close enough the colonists had bunked down good enough and were a t such an elevation advantage that it was easy pickings for the americans.

    The Olive Branch Petition was basically the colonist asking King George if they could resolve there issues in a grown up manner. The King, being a noble and upright man, through the colonists paper of piece in their faces and laughed. i could jst see him binky in his mouth with a joker smile on his face.

    This battle was sad. Benidict Arnold lead 1,000 men acrossed the boarder to Canada where british forces were setting up. Arnold did this in the early winter months. When they reached the Candaina out post what was left of the Americans ran at the fort walls were the british soon picked them off. Benidict toke a shot to the leg.

    Common Sence by Thomas Paine
    The Common sence pamphlete was writen by Thomas Paine as a sort of way to influence the fence sitters to join the revolution against Britian. It was also the first document to openly ask for independence.

    this battle is one that is not recognized but should be. washington was able to liberate the town of boston from the British without shooting a single shot. Genral Howe was held up in boston but Wshington had Boston completeyly surrpunded. The deal they made was that General Howe could take his ships from boston unharmed and they would leave but if they were harmed he was going to burn down boston. pretty go save on our part from Washington.

    The Declaration of Independence is the most cherished transcript of the american people. The thoughts and ideas that jefferson penned into the declaration were thoughs of self-evident right and equality. Ideas that were once thought up by John Locke, a british philosopher. This document in the big idea thought seperated the colonists from the the mother country of England.

    The british felt horrible after there lost at boston so they stratagised to move to new york where they would have more suport. Washington saw their move and pulled to New Yok also. Washington placed his men in a way that just spoke to the British saying come and get me. A soft spot in Washingtons defece allowed the british to move right in. Washington ignored defeat and got 3 more regements. Howe was going to attack but waited for his brother so Washington toke leave and left.

    Trenton and Princeton
    After Washington's defeat at New York he fled with Cornwallis and howe in hot pursuit. Washington came to trent new jersey and crossed the river there making sure to take all the boats within miles with them. The hessians made camp acrossed the river with no where else to go so Washington attacked on December 25. at the end of the fight only 2 americans were killed and 900 hessians were taken prinsoner. After this Washington lead his men to many other places easily out manuvering them.

    Fort Ticonderoga was a fort nuild during the frech and indian war. Benidict Arnold and Ethan Allen captured the fort in 1775 and St. Clair was in charge of the fort for the time being. The British attacked this fort up the hudson river but the fort was left in ruin and the door was facing the right way. When the british neared St.Clair left the fort in some ships but a generals house was set on fire so it illuminated there way and woke the british. The Americans lost the fort.

    Saratoge was a heavy hit for the British. Burgoyne, a commaner for the British was a prideful amn with a plan. he wanted to march his men from canada south top attack the rebels. His regemend consisted of 30 carts filled with his personal items and his wife. his army made slow advancement and in arrogance he relesed a statment that infuriated the milita. Milita men pured in from every where when burgoyne attacked albany. Ending he lost 6000 men 27 cannons and 5000 small arms.

    The battle started off as a disater with Washinton's troops low on supplies and food. Steuben offered to train Washington's men and he did so. In May the men were ready for battle. Washingotn set up a well though out plan that included some harssing of clintons forces and Lee taking 5000 men against Cornwallis. Lees though put un trained men in leadership and soon lost contol of the battle. Washington how ever rode in and was able to reorganise the men and win the battle.

    After Clintons Defeat at Charleston he was determined to take Charleston foro England. Clintons plan was to take 14,000 men and mole there was to the fort. Though it toke many months Clinton finaly reached and overtoke the fort. This was a slow and clear defeat for the Americans.
  • Camden

    Gates toke what turned out at the end to be 7000 men back up against Charleston. He wanted to get there before British renforcement so he marched his men around the clock. When his men arrived it was to late be he pressed on anyway. his men were tired and sick from food poisoning. When the battle began they turned tails and ran. This tragity destroyed the Patroits hopes in the south.
  • Cowpens

    English Col. tralenton was sent by Cornwallis to go up against Morgans forces. Both forces were equaly matched but Morgan had a plan. Morgan set 150 sharp shooter out front then 300 milita men, then over a hill 450 men, then behind another hill he set his calavary. Tarlenton was clearly out matched and when Greene came in he bearly got away with about 50 other men. 100 british were killed and 800 taken prisoner.

    On this date the last of the 13 colonise retified the articals of confederationg making America offically one nation. Five years later the people started to feel the unrest of the new constitution and within 20 years the colonist had successfully did away with there second form of governement. this time peacefully though. they then adapted our constitution we have to that was wrten by James matteson. Hopfully the A<ericans dont over through or ruin this form of government too.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    The British forces moved to Yorktown after the deft at Charleston. Washington gathered troop and started marching for virgina. Washingotn overlooked all the travel details and left a small number of soldiers to harass Clinton for a while. Before anyone knew it Washington was in Philidephia and making fast pace to york town. Lafayette's group keep Cornwallis from moving but when every one arrived there was 17,500 men and within five days Cornwallis was forced to surrender.
